Sokoto : I Had No Choice But To Sell My Official Vehicle, Ex-LG Chairman Tells Commission Of Inquiry

The immediate past chairman of Gudu Local Government , Sokoto state, Alhaji Bello Bachaka, has submitted that he had no choice but to sell his official vehicle for N4 million in order to pay ransom and ensure that his wife and two children regain their freedom some months ago.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Bachaka, who served as chairman of Gudu local government between April 2021 and April 2023, said this while appearing before the judicial commission of enquiry constituted by the Soloto state Government to investigate the sales and auctions of government property during the Aminu Tambuwal administration.
Bachaka told the commission that towards the end of his tenure, his wife and two of his children were kidnapped and he had to sell the Toyota Hilux vehicle which had been monetized and he used the money to pay ransom to the bandits and ensure that his family members regain their freedom.
The commission is headed by Justice Mu’azu Pindiga.
Bachaka added that he sold the vehicle and paid over N4 million to the bandit before they released the abductees.
‘I sold the vehicle that was monetized to me for N4.2 million, which was deducted from my over N5 million total gratuity and severance allowances
I have no option than to dispose of the monetized Toyota Hilux vehicle to pay the ransom to the bandit’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com
