Solar Water Pumps , Power Tillers Distributed To Farmers As Agriculture Minister Launches KADAGE In Suru LG..It’s Gov Nasir’s Food Security Initiative In Kebbi

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security,  Alhaji  Abubakar Kyari  officially launched  the Kaura Agricultural Development and Growth Agenda (KADAGE) in Suru Local Government , Kebbi  state on Thursday.

The Kaura Agricultural Development and Growth Agenda (KADAGE), is Governor Nasir Idris’  food security initiative in Kebbi state.

Solar water pumps and power tillers were  also distributed to farmers during the unveiling ceremony.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Governor Nasiru Idris’ Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki  quoted the Agriculture Minister as saying that  President Bola Tinubu is committed to improving agriculture and attaining food security in the country in line with  his administration’s  8- point Agenda.

‘President Tinubu has made food security number one item in his 8-point agenda through improvement of agricultural production.  All programmes on the agenda are connected to agriculture, such as wealth creation and poverty eradication.

The President is concerned about the capacity of farmers to acquire agricultural inputs and has now begun a process to accelerate access to such inputs by farmers’ he said.

Kyari  also told the gathering that Governor Nasir Idris was at his ministry in Abuja to discuss ways of improving agricultural production in the state.

‘Through Governor Idris’ actions, he has ‘walked the talk’ by procuring and distributing  6,000 solar  water pumps and other inputs to boost irrigation farming in the state’ he said.

Kyari  submitted that year-round farming would boost crop cultivation, increase job opportunities, reduce poverty, de-escalate food inflation and enhance inclusivity.

‘These are goals highlighted in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Kebbi is one of the states chosen for dry season farming’ he said.

The minister commended the governor for his supportive intervention cognizant that President Tinubu had called or collaboration between the Federal and state Governments to ensure availability of agricultural inputs to farmers to accelerate the attainment of food security.

While distributing the farm inputs,  the state governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, said  his administration would distribute 12,000 solar  water pumps, commencing with the 6,000 distributed to farmers at the even in order that they can  increase  their yields.

‘The state government will purchase 20,000 units of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered water pumps as a backup to the solar pumps to increase the number of benefiting farmers in the state’ he said.

Idris  however warned the beneficiaries not to sell the items, saying that the government would take punitive action against anybody  who does such a thing.

‘I swear by God, any official involve in the distribution of the items found to have engaged in diversion, will be arrested and prosecuted.

I am giving order to all heads of security agencies including vigilante groups to monitor the distribution of the items and take necessary action on  the violators’ he warned.

Idris also noted that his immediate predecessor,  Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, had done his best to put Kebbi state on the map as a leading rice producer in the country.

The governor assured that he would consolidate on this achievement and improve the production of the crop in question- Team@orientactualmags.com
