Sulaiman Abubakar On His Own, He Didn’t Join APC In Advance Of Saraki –Kwara PDP

Kwara state PDP disclosed on Thursday that it had received numerous inquiries regarding the political party that the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Suleiman , who is popularly called  ‘Amanah’,  belongs to,  ditto his followers.

The party noted  in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by its state Publicity Secretary, Mr Olusegun Olusola Adewara, that Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Suleiman had ceased to be a member of the PDP since 2019, while clarifying that the NILDS and his followers, who have just become members of the APC, have not also joined the ruling party in advance of former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

‘For record purposes, we wish to clarify the following:

That:

1. Professor Abubakar Suleiman had ceased to be a member of the PDP since 2019 following his appointment as DG  of NILDS.

2. Although his appointment was facilitated by the then President of the Senate and PDP leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON), Professor Suleiman publicly announced his withdrawal from partisan politics in 2019 perhaps to protect his new office.

3. It’s worthy of note that this non-partisan stance was recently reaffirmed in a public statement by one of his aides, emphasizing Professor Suleiman’s apolitical status due to his current official position.

4. Given the above, it is erroneous to refer to Professor Suleiman as a chieftain of the PDP in Kwara state. He was a beneficiary of the party’s leader, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

5. Despite being a beneficiary of Dr. Saraki’s leadership, Professor Suleiman or anyone associated with him has not been compelled to remain in the PDP. Saraki, as a liberal democrat, has always respected the personal political decision of individuals associated with him, including the  DG of NILDS. 

6. Flowing from the above, Professor Suleiman’s political affiliation with the APC or any other party, is a matter for him to explain to those he owes explanations. It will, therefore, amount to confusion for anyone to claim he is defecting from PDP to the APC.

7. Our leader, H. E. Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki is not involved in whatever political decision taken by Professor Abubakar Suleiman and or any of his followers. To this end, claims that he and his followers are joining the APC in advance of Saraki are baseless and falsehood.

8. We wish Professor Suleiman and his supporters, including Risikatu Olohunoje, the former Assistant State PRO, who have resigned from their party positions, which were obtained through the 2018 merger agreement when we left the APC for the PDP, the best in their new political endeavours’ the statement said-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
