Suspension: My Legitimacy As A Senator ‘Intact’, I’ll Continue To Serve My Constituents-Natasha

Suspension: My Legitimacy As A Senator ‘Intact’, I’ll Continue To Serve My Constituents-Natasha

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was on Thursday suspended by the senate for 6 months, has not only called the decision taken by her colleagues ‘a violation of natural justice, fairness, and equity’, but also asserted that she remains the representative of Kogi Central senatorial district.

Recall that the Senate not only announced her suspension yesterday but also warned that, ‘for the period of her suspension, she is barred from presenting herself to the public, both locally and internationally, as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in a Facebook post on Thursday insisted that she would continue to serve her constituents and retain her title as ‘Senator’.

‘Against the culture of silence, intimidation and victim-shaming; my unjust suspension from the Nigerian Senate invalidates the principles of natural justice, fairness and equity.

The illegal suspension does not withdraw my legitimacy as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I will continue to use my duly elected position to serve my constituents and country to the best of my ability till 2027 … and beyond’ she wrote.

Recall that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had alleged that she is being victimized by the Senate President, Barrister Godswill Akpabio because she had refused to join him in participating in the game that requires no referee.

The drama had begun when Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics and Disciplinary following altercations involving her and the Senate President over seating arrangements during a plenary session a few days ago,

The Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions was given two weeks to submit its report.

Natasha and Akpabio had since then continued to grab the headlines.

The senate suspended Natasha for 6 months on Thursday.

‘That the Senate do suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months for her total violation of the Senate Standing Rules (2023 as amended for bringing the presiding officer and the entire Nigerian Senate to public opprobrium’ Senate President ,Barrister Godswill Akpabio said on Thursday while reading out the recommendations of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct probing her sexual assault allegations-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
