Third Estate Laments Insecurity In Kwara, Urges Fervent Prayers, Vigilance
The Third Estate Ilorin Emirate has expressed deep concern over organized criminal activities including banditry, kidnappings, and killings in some parts of Kwara North and Kwara South Senatorial Districts noting that reports from Patigi, Oke-Ode, and other affected local governments have become increasingly alarming.
The group in a statement issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its president, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, and Public Relations Officer, Mr Nasir Abdulquadri, noted that although the Ilorin Emirate remains relatively calm, the disturbing trend in neighbouring regions is however ‘a warning sign that calls for immediate and united action before the menace gets close to home’.
Third Estate has also emphasized the need for vigilance and fervent prayers.
‘We commend the government and security agencies for the ongoing efforts to secure lives and property, but we equally urge a greater sense of urgency, collaboration, and intelligence coordination. The patterns of recent attacks suggest a gradual spread from border communities toward central areas, and this must not be ignored. We call on the Kwara State Government, security formations, traditional institutions, and local vigilante groups to increase surveillance, strengthen rural policing, and engage community leaders in early-warning mechanisms to forestall further tragedy.
In the face of these unfolding threats, the Third Estate Ilorin Emirate urges all indigenes and residents of Ilorin Emirate — both at home and in the diaspora — to return to our time-honoured tradition of communal prayer and spiritual vigilance. In times past, our forefathers turned to collective supplication whenever our land was confronted with danger, and through faith and unity, peace was restored. Today, we must rekindle that sacred spirit and call on Almighty Allah to shield our state from the deliberate onslaught of evil forces that seek to destabilize our peace, security, and moral values.
We therefore urge every mosque, church, household, and community in Ilorin and across Kwara State to join in solemn, fervent prayers for divine intervention and protection. This is not a ceremonial exercise but a sincere cry for mercy and guidance from the Almighty. Let every family and congregation lift their voices in faith and stand firm against the darkness threatening our collective wellbeing. We must pray as who believes that peace is a divine gift that requires both spiritual and civic defence.
We appeal to religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community elders to continue to speak out against this menace. The pulpit and the palace must once again, become centres of moral reawakening and public guidance. Let our sermons, gatherings, and cultural engagements be focused on peace, discipline, vigilance, and the sanctity of life. Evil thrives where good people are quiet, and silence in the face of insecurity is no virtue.
We also call on parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children — to their friends, movements, and activities. Let us nurture values of honesty, hard work, and self-restraint in our youths. To our young people, resist every temptation of quick wealth and the lure of criminal ventures. Violence brings no honour, only shame and destruction. Likewise, all residents must remain vigilant and report strange movements, suspicious persons, or abandoned objects to local authorities and security agencies. Security is everyone’s business; no detail is too small to save a life.
Importantly, this growing insecurity must not be politicized. The challenge before us transcends political lines, ethnic differences, or religious affiliations. Bandits and criminals do not ask for party ID cards before launching attack; their aim is to destroy the peace we all share. We therefore remind politicians, leaders, and all public office holders that every action and inaction will be accounted for before God. This is not the time for propaganda or blame games but for sincerity, sacrifice, and collective effort.
This statement is both a voice of concern and a call to conscience. We cannot fold our arms and watch the peace of our land gradually eroded. Kwara State is known as the state of peace and harmony, and we must rise in unity to protect that legacy. We must return to the values that bind us together — faith, vigilance, integrity, and communal responsibility.
May Almighty Allah continue to protect Kwara State from the hands of evildoers, grant wisdom and courage to our leaders, empower our security personnel, and restore calm to every home and community already affected by the rising wave of violence. Together, in faith and unity, we shall overcome this trial and keep our state safe, peaceful, and prosperous’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
