Kwara state APC chieftain, Hon Moshood Mustapha, a former member of the House of Representatives, had his name mentioned in connection with defection rumours on Saturday.
What has been described as a throwback picture that had surfaced online, was a development that aroused social media users’ curiosity and defection rumours had since then swirled around the former federal lawmaker.
In the controversial picture , Hon Moshood Mustapha was seen exchanging pleasantries with former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and other political bigwigs at a PDP campaign rally.
Social media users in Kwara state simply leapt to conclusions that the picture was taken at the PDP presidential Campaign rally held in Lokoja, Kogi state today, Saturday, 14 January 2023..
A video of the former Senate President, Hon Mustapha and others at the Obajana Airstrip had also surfaced online and some members of the Kwara state PDP had argued forcibly that Hon Moshood Mustapha was actually in Lokoja as claimed.
Team@orientactualmags.com got in touch with sources in Lokoja and while it was confirmed that the PDP actually held its presidential campaign rally in Lokoja earlier today , it could not however be confirmed if the former senate president was among attendees of the event.
‘We were told Saraki would be around but we were not sure if he eventually attended the rally maybe he is handling some other things for the party. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was however around along with some other PDP leaders’ said a source.
Another source also claimed that the former senate president attended the event, but many may not have however noticed this because he was not one of the people who addressed party members and supporters at the campaign rally.
A political associate of Hon Moshood Mustapha however emphatically stated that the former federal lawmaker did not attend the PDP campaign rally in Lokoja as claimed by some social media users.
The associate, who spoke on condition of anonymity, argued that the controversial picture was taken when Mustapha was a member of the PDP.
‘Please, help us give people the true picture of things. It was a picture taken when MM was a member of the PDP.
As we speak, MM is in Abuja watching football with family members at his residence, how will the same person be in Lokoja?
