APC Presidential candidate ,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has promised to tackle squarely and end banditry in the country if elected as president in 2023.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned he said this on Saturday while giving his speech during the seventh edition of Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit, ‘KadInvest’ in Kaduna, an annual event organized by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency.
Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, Maryam Katagum, who represented President Muhammadu Buharii, attended the event.
This year’s edition had as its theme ‘Building a Resilient Economy’ while Sanusi gave a keynote speech on , ‘Improving sub national resilience against global economic shocks’.
Tinubu , who said he was confident of becoming the nation’s leader, also promised to solve Nigeria’s problems if elected as president.
The former Lagos state governor however urged Governor Nasir El-rufai not to leave the country after leaving office next year because as Nigeria’s president, he would need to have him around .
‘If you leave me on the podium I will continue to campaign here, begging El-rufai not to run away from Nigeria in 2023 because we need your creativity at this critical time.
I am confidently telling you that I will lead this country in 2023 with your support. I have the ability to surmount all the problems and return the country to the right track and prosperity.
No inch of this country will be conceded to banditry, we will fight it to a standstill. Under my leadership we will use counter insurgency technology to eliminate crimes in our society and your lives will be secure’ he said.
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, who is the Khalifah of Tijaniya Movement of Nigeria, had while giving his keynote said he would not be supporting any political party in the 2023 general election.
He also made reference to how he was removed as governor of Central Bank of Nigeria because he had spoken truth to power.
‘I keep repeating, hope you remember that I lost my job at the Central Bank for this same problem. It is not about a particular party. I have no party. My party is Nigeria. This is the problem we had in 2014. Asiwaju (Tinubu) knows that my party is Nigeria’ he said.
He called for transparency and credibility in the management of the nation’s resources and suggested that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited should be unbundled.
NNPC should according to him be run as an independent enterprise with high-level accountability.
‘NNPC tells us officially that we are consuming 66 million litres per day…We are consuming more than Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire and others.
In 2019 officially, we were importing 40 million litres per day. In 2022, officially, we are importing 66 million per day. In three years, we have increased our petrol consumption by 50%. Please tell me, is it the population? Is it the number of cars? Just ask yourself if it makes sense that in three years you increase your consumption of petrol by 50%’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com
