Top Police Officer, Gbolahan Oyedemi, Commits Suicide In Ogbomosho…We’ve Lost A Good Cop-Diran Odeyemi

Mr. Gbolahan Oyedemi, a Deputy Commissioner of Police , has reportedly embarked on a voluntary trip to the great beyond.
He was, until his death on Monday, attached to the Force Criminal and Investigation Department, Alagbon, Lagos state.
Oyedemi was said to have committed suicide by hanging at his private residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.
The deceased police officer, an indigene of Ogbomosho, who had maintained the tradition of celebrating the Easter celebrations in his hometown, had reportedly asked his aides to go to their respective towns to celebrate with their respective family members.
‘Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his house yesterday (Monday). He stays alone, and he normally comes home for Easter celebrations. This time, he told his aides to go and celebrate with their respective family members . Only God knows what could have prompted him to commit suicide’ a source was quoted to have submitted.
While many have continued to ask questions and involuntarily provide probable answers, some had however insinuated that he may have been a victim of ‘eedi’ which means that somebody may have put a spell on him and made him behave irrationally and act contrary to reason.
The late Oyedemi was aide decamp to late Otunba Alao Akala during the 11 months he spent from Chief Rasidi Ladoja’s term.
Recall that Ladoja was impeached as governor of Oyo state by members of the state House of Assembly on January 12, 2006, while his deputy, Alao Akala was sworn in as the new governor immediately.
A Supreme Court ruling however declared his (Ladoja) impeachment as illegal and had him returned to office in December 2006.
As an Area Commander in Lagos state, the late Oyedemi would be remembered for doing all that was required to stop irate young people from burning former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s VGC residence during the #EndSARS protests.
Chairman of the Governing Board of Osun state College of Technology, Esa-Oke, who was late Akala’s Special Adviser, has described the news of the death of Oyedemi as shocking and unfortunate.
He described Oyedemi as a promising police officer in a telephone interview with Team@orientactualmags.com on Tuesday.
‘It is quite unfortunate that we have lost a promising police officer , who was easy-going and amiable.
He was a nice man. He was a diligent police officer who has the qualities of a good cop. May God repose his soul’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
