Toyin Saraki @ 58 : Wishing God’s Gift To Humankind ‘A Happy Birthday’–Baba Idris
Today is the day to celebrate a great humanitarian and a royalty. Today is the day to define Her Excellency, Barrister Toyin Saraki -Ojora, the Founder / President, Well-being Foundation for Africa and the Erelu Bobajiroro of Iru Kingdom.
It is important to celebrate Mrs Toyin Saraki, a mentor, a mother figure and my daughter’s godmother as she turns 58 today.
This God’s gift to humankind was born on 6 September 1964.
Today is not just the day to celebrate Her Excellency, Barrister Toyin Saraki but also a good opportunity to appreciate this mother of many, ‘grandmother’ of my generation and a role model to the young women in Africa with many impacts. Today is also the day to appreciate all she had done for the children and women in Africa through her Foundation.
Through the many engagements I’ve had with Her Excellency over the years, I’ve come to realize that one of the things that matters to her is youth development; how young men and women will grow to become leaders with character and capacity. This is a virtue that is rare to find in our society these days, and when you find a mother figure and a mentor with a good heart, kindly hold such a person in high esteem and protect the relationship. My generation already found one in Barrister Toyin Saraki and we are ready to protect this relationship jealously.
I’m delighted that my daughter will some day grow up to learn that one of the symbols of hope in Africa, a mother figure, a mentor, a philanthropist, and an influential and powerful woman, Barr. Toyin Saraki named her after herself, and I believe she will draw inspiration and greatness from her.
As we celebrate Barr. Toyin Saraki today, I wish her longer life in sound health, peace and happiness. I pray that our dear mummy continues to grow in the grace and mercy of God Almighty.
I’m using this medium to thank Her Excellency for all she has done and continues to do for me personally, my family and for young people like me. Thank you, Ma, for supporting my growth and development over the years. It’s been an amazing experience to have you as a mother figure and identify with you.
Happy birthday Ma—-Mr Baba Idris, a former Kwara state PDP guber aspirant, writes from Ilorin
