Traditional Rites Begin As New Olufon Of Ifon Enters Ipebi …What You Need To Know About Ifon Osun
Oba Peter Oluwole Akinyooye, who had his appointment as new Olufon of Ifon Osun announced by Governor Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday, February 7, ,2024, has described his ascension to the throne as a dream come true.
The new Olufon , who had since left for Ipebi where he will undergo traditional rites , is a polished and refined gentleman.
As Olufon of Ifon –Osun, he will get recognized as permanent Chairman of Irepodun/Orolu Traditional Council, and Deputy Chairman of Osun state Council of Obas.
According to history, Ifon-Osun ,which is the headquarters of Orolu Local Government, came into being in 1401.
It was founded by Olaosa Obanage Orolu popularly called Akogun Erujeje-Adugbo.
He was the son of Obalufon Alaiyemore, the third Ooni of Ife.
In a telephone interview with Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday night, Oba Oluwole Peter thanked Governor Ademola Adeleke for allowing a transparent selection process and for following due process while assuring residents and indigenes of Ifon-Osun that he will advance the development and progress of the ancient town.
‘Firstly, I thank the Almighty God for His support because there is no authority except from God, and all authorities that exist are appointed by God.
I appreciate the governor of Osun state , Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and members of his cabinet for ensuring a transparent selection process.
I specially appreciate the governor and I thank him.
Yes, during the course of the selection process I had faith in God that I would be chosen as the next Olufon just like all other princes also had such a faith and I thank God that I was eventually chosen to be the 35th Olufon of Ifon Orolu Kingdom. So, when I was informed that I have gotten appointed as new Olufon, tears rolled down my eyes, but it was tears of joy.
It is a dream come true and I assure my people that I will be religiously committed to advancing the development and progress of Ifon-Osun’ he said
Oba Peter’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yusuff Akeeb Adekunle noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday that the new Ifon monarch will leave Ipebi next week .
‘The traditional rites for the Olufon-Elect, His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola Ilufemiloye, Akinyooye III, has begun this morning. The traditional activities will last for five days while some cultural and social events will also be held at the front of Olufon’s Palace. The programmes are scheduled to hold as follows:
Day 1: Thursday , February 8, 2024 – Cultural Display.
Day 2: Friday , February 9, 2024 – Jumat Prayer.
Day 3: Saturday, February 10, 2024 – Traditional Prayer Session – Isese, Ayo Olopon and Draughts Competition
Day 4: Sunday, February 11, 2024 – Christian Prayer Session.
Day 5: The new Olufon will be seen in public for the first time after entering Ipebi, he will be received by the Chiefs at Olu’s Square and the entire concourse will leave for the palace.
All the social and cultural events will hold between 2pm and 5pm at the front of the Palace.
