Tribunal Ruling :  It’s Victory For Osun- Oyetola

Tribunal Ruling :  It’s Victory For Osun- Oyetola

Immediate past Governor  of Osun state, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola , who was the APC  gubernatorial candidate in the July 16 2022 Governorship election, has described the judicial  victory  he earned on Friday as  well -deserved.

He  has also appealed to members of the PDP in the state  not to resort to self-help, but instead allow the judicial process to run its full course.

His media office in a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com noted that he said this while talking to journalists shortly after the Tribunal ruling.

‘The Tribunal judgment today on our petition ushers in a new dawn of a renewed hope and recovery for Osun State.

For me, I see it was a no victor and no vanquished situation for our party members, but rather a collective victory for the entire people of Osun State  and Nigeria’s democracy.

I am happy that the Tribunal has laid to rest the controversy over the real winner of the July 16 Osun Governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would no doubt be the greatest beneficiary of this ruling, as it would help the commission in correcting some of the anomalies that have been identified through the ruling, a thing that was our motivation in the first instance.

Like I have always emphasized , our decision to approach the Tribunal was not to impugn on the integrity of INEC, but to help deepen our electoral system and our democracy.

I salute millions of our party faithful and Osun Citizens who stood firm to weather the storm for their courage and loyalty.

With this victory, we have become more energized to redouble our efforts towards ensuring victory for our presidential candidate and all our National Assembly candidates, including all the State House of Assembly candidates in the February and March elections respectively.

I thank our legal team for a diligent job, I  also thank the Tribunal for doing justice to our petition. Finally, I call on our party members and supporters across the state not to react to any form of provocation from any quarters. Let’s continue to remain calm, peaceful and law –abiding’ he said.

In separate statement ,Osun state APC has described the judicial victory as  triumph of justice and truth over falsehood.

Acting State APC Chairman , Sooko Tajudeen Lawal noted that the governorship tribunal giving victory to Oyetola was a clear indication that the APC is the dominant political party in the state.

Lawal noted that he never, for once, doubted the victory of Oyetola at the tribunal as the verdict was a confirmation that the APC governorship candidate did not lose the July 16, 2022 election but rather the vote counting.

The statement observed that the difference in the garnered votes with which Oyetola was declared the winner of the governorship election by the tribunal by a wide margin was enough to prove that the APC candidate won the election conveniently and convincingly.

Lawal added that with the majority judgment that gave Oyetola victory, it further underscored the fact that the court of law is the last hope of common man as justice was not only served, it was seen to have been glaringly done.

He appreciated the professional expertise of all the lawyers who featured at the tribunal and also lauded the support and loyalty of all the APC members throughout the  sittings of the tribunal.

Lawal enjoined all the APC members and their supporters to go about their businesses in peace irrespective of provocation from any quarters.

He saluted the courage of the party members for their continued belief in the ideals of the party which had propelled  their unalloyed support to date.

Lawal advised the leadership of the PDP and their candidate to approach the appellate court if they feel dissatisfied with the tribunal judgment that has given victory to Oyetola instead of resorting to self-help .

He also expressed gratitude to the entire people of the state for their support and prayers promising them that there will soon be a continuity of qualitative governance that they had been made to experience under Oyetola- Team@orientactualmags.com
