Tribune Newspaper’s Biola Azeez Elected As Kwara Correspondents’ Chapel Chairman, Promises Ethical Journalism
Mr Biola Azeez, the correspondent of Tribune Newspaper in Kwara State, was on Saturday elected as chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State council.
Mr Azeez , who was elected unopposed, had previously served as Vice Chairman.
Mr Ibrahim Alege, the new Vice Chairman, Mrs Sikirat Shehu, the Financial Secretary, and Mrs. Afusat Agunbiade, Treasurer were also elected unopposed.
The new Secretary is Mosunmola Ayobami while Mr Oluseyi DaSilva was also elected as Auditor.
In an interview with Team@orientactualmags.com, the new chairman, Mr Biola Azeez promised to promote ethical journalism while also adding that efforts will be made to improve the journalist’s watchdog role .
He also promised to prioritize the welfare of members of the correspondents’ chapel, promote professionalism and ensure that everyone keeps to ethics of journalism.
‘I will prioritize the welfare of my members, cognizant that journalists mould public opinion, we will also attach importance to training and retraining of our members to ensure that they play this role effectively and help in making Nigerians become good and well-informed citizens ,this will definitely help them while choosing their leaders during elections.
We will ensure that our members keep to ethics of journalism and discourage the idea of having a journalist identifying openly with a political party or a politician because we are expected to present all sides of an issue and avoid bias or favoritism’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
