The University of Ilorin Alumni association , has described the news of the death of Mallam Abidu Yazid Rafindadi as shocking and unbelievable while describing his passing as ‘a great loss to all of us’.
Until his death in the early hours of Thursday, 22nd September, 2022 after a short illness, Rafindadi was the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University of Ilorin Governing Council.
The Katsina-born economist, who lived in Kaduna, breathed his last in Abuja.
Professor Jeleel Olasunkanmi Ojuade, who is the Chairman and Coordinator of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association, University of Ilorin, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday , offered condolences to the University of Ilorin, Governor Aminu Masari and the Katsina state people while asking God to grant the late Rafindadi eternal rest.
‘On behalf of the Executive Council and the entire members of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association, we commiserate with the family and friends of our dear Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Late Mallam Rafindadi, the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Governor and good people of Katsina State, members of the University of Ilorin Governing Council, the Management, Staff and Students at the University of Ilorin over this colossal loss.
We are indeed very sad to receive the news of his painful exit.
He was no doubt a rare gem, a silent achiever and an experienced leader, who made rich and positive impacts when it comes to the development of the country, especially his interest in the lives of the downtrodden. Throughout his tenure in our Alma Mater, every moment of his life was dedicated to the service of the University and the nation at large.
The Late Mallam Rafindadi contributed immensely to the growth and development of Education in Nigeria through endowments and academic sponsorships. The University of Ilorin Alumni Association will remain ever grateful for the efforts of the late University’s Pro-Chancellor, Mallam Rafindadi to ensure the development of the institution.
May the departed soul rest in peace. May the Almighty God forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and admit him into Al-janat Firdaous.
