Upcoming Orientation Camp ‘ll Be Held ln Ilorin Not Yikpata-Kwara NYSC Coordinator
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, about 1,800 corps members who have just been deployed to Kwara State will have the orientation camp held for them in the state from Wednesday, September 24 to Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
They will be in the state for the mandatory one-year service programme for young Nigerian graduates under 30, the new corps members will not however spend the 21-day orientation camp period in Yikpata, Edu local government, like those who had come before them had done.
NYSC will hold orientation camp for the new corps members at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The driving distance from Ilorin to Yikpata is 82km.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Joshua Onifade, who disclosed this while talking to journalists in Ilorin on Thursday, noted that the decision to relocate the NYSC orientation camp was sequel to safety fears following the activities of those he called ‘enemies of progress’.

‘This decision becomes necessary due to some recent security concerns around the permanent orientation camp, Yikpata, in Edu local government’ he said.
Onifade however assured prospective corps members and their parents of adequate security and smooth conduct of the three-week exercise in Ilorin while adding that soldiers and other security personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety of the new corps members.
He thanked the federal and state governments for their intervention and support, submitting that NYSC has made necessary preparations and ready to hold orientation camp for the new corps members between Wednesday, September 24 and Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
‘The NYSC management wishes to appreciate the unrelenting efforts of the state government and the security agencies in addressing the insecurity challenges in some parts of Kwara State.
However, the decision to temporarily choose a new location is to substantially allay our prospective corps members’ fears, some of who are visiting the state for the first time’ he said.
The NYSC top official commended the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration for the proactive decision and for ensuring that issues of the welfare of corps members have remained its utmost priority.
He added that the Director General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. O. O Nafiu has directed the Director, Southwest Area Office I, Osun State, to inspect and evaluate the temporary venue for the purpose of assessing the level of preparedness.
‘The NYSC management wishes all our prospective corps members hitch-free and safe journeys to the respective locations for their orientation camps, while advising them strongly to avoid night travel and also board vehicles only at the designated motor parks’ Onifade added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
