Vanguard Newspaper Interview: Yisa Gana ‘Out Of Touch With Reality’, His Assertions ‘Incorrect’-Kwara PDP

Kwara State PDP on Sunday reacted to the recent interview granted to the Vanguard Newspaper by former Nigerian Ambassador to Japan, Professor Mohammed Yisa Gana submitting that he has lost connection with reality.

While noting that although Gana, a one-time Deputy Speaker of Kwara State house of assembly, who has left the party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has the right to express his views, the party in a statement issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its state Publicity Secretary, Mr Olusegun Olusola Adewara however submitted that ‘we must address his ridiculous attempts to misinform the public and discredit the good work of PDP members in the state’.

The party added that it finds Professor Yisa Gana’s false claim that PDP members are relying on a supposed ‘deal’ with President Tinubu to take over Kwara State in 2027 ‘laughable’ while alleging that there is a close connection between the state ADC and the ruling APC.

‘First, we understand where this spurious concoction is coming from but it is necessary to remind Prof. Gana and his sponsors that the Kwara PDP did not rely on President Tinubu or any ‘handshake from Abuja’ to demonstrate the electoral strength the party displayed in the last local government elections — the strength that Gana himself acknowledged indicating that the PDP overwhelmingly won before the ruling party subverted the process.

Second, Prof. Yisa’s falsehood that the PDP failed to seek redress in court after the rigged council polls is most unfortunate coming from someone of his status. He is well aware that PDP candidates and leaders in Patigi, Offa, Ilorin South, Irepodun and several other LGAs approached the tribunals to challenge the fraudulent results declared by KWASIEC. His attempt to twist facts is not only disingenuous but a self-indictment pointing to his own political irrelevance.

If indeed he believes PDP should have done more, we ask: what personal sacrifice or contribution did he make to support the struggle? How much did he contribute to fund litigations in his own ward or local government? Is it not shameful that the then PDP ‘big man’ could not even pay the ₦25,000 nomination fee for a councillorship aspirant in his local government, let alone the over ₦100,000 KWASIEC needed to obtain KWASIEC forms, until Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who is not from Patigi,  rallied support from other stakeholders to ensure candidates in Gana’s domain did not miss the deadline.

We ask Professor Gana, who is the ‘party’ he is referring to in his own domain, and how much money did he bring to the table as a stakeholder to finance those litigations from his ward if truly he is concerned? Why didn’t he finance the litigation he now claims should have been pursued in his ward? Must the financial burden of the state PDP always fall on Dr. Saraki?

We are equally aware of the clandestine collaboration between Prof. Gana Yisa and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to weaken the opposition in Kwara. His latest interview is nothing but part of the contractual obligations designed to smear the PDP, divide the opposition, and give the APC soft landing ahead of 2027.

Unfortunately for the plotters, Kwarans are wiser. They know the suffering, insecurity, and poverty the Abdulrahman government has inflicted on them, and no amount of propaganda from political contractors masquerading as opposition will change the reality.

For us in PDP, we are not distracted. Just as in the council polls, our eyes remain on the ball. We are working round the clock to consolidate our grassroots strength and align with the yearnings of Kwarans for a genuine rescue. In the fullness of time, it will be clear which party has the structure and vision to truly rescue Kwara. from the clutch of the present clueless leaders.

Prof. Gana Yisa and others may continue trading the ADC platform as a bargaining chip with Governor Abdulrahman, but Kwarans already know that only the PDP has the capacity, the spread, and the sincerity to deliver them from the total failure represented by the APC’ the party submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
