Verification Committee Announces Discovery of 268 Ghost Judicial Officers In Kogi
The Staff Verification Committee set up by Kogi state Chief Judge which was headed by Justice Mohammed Etsu Umar, has announced the discovery of 268 ghost judicial workers in the state.
‘ If gold rusts, what can iron do”, you would say.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Umar disclosed this on Wednesday while presenting the report of the committee to the Acting Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Joe Majebi in Lokoja.
The committee also recommended the termination of all the appointments made between January 2021 and June 2022.
Justice Umar said the anomaly had led to an ‘astronomical’ increase in personnel emoluments, representing a 40 per cent increase in personnel cost.
‘After a careful check of the names of newly employed staff from January 2021 to June 2022, the staff disposition list and payroll, it was discovered that some of the names on the payroll could not be found on the staff disposition list of the courts and other departments.
Therefore, it is an indication that though their names are on the payroll, they do not have duty stations and do not work anywhere in the inspectorate offices’ he said.
Giving his speech, Justice Josiah Joe Majebi, said the staff verification would be a continuous exercise to ensure due process and diligence in staff recruitment and administration while promising to implement the recommendations of the committee without delay- Team@orientactualmags.com
