Veteran Politician, Shuaib Oyedokun, Congratulates Gov Makinde On His Election Victory… Calls Him ‘Alexander The Great Of Nigerian Politics’
Former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, has sent a message of congratulations to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state on his election victory.
While thanking electors in Oyo state for making it possible for the governor to win re-election, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun also noted that it was a well-deserved victory.
The veteran politician also added that Makinde’s second victory was not in the same class as that of 2019 election victory , cognizant that he has had the opportunity to show leadership skills and deliver good governance and therefore had this latest victory welcomed with higher enthusiasm.
Alhaji Oyedokun in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com also touched on lessons learned from the governor’s latest election victory.
‘Lessons from Seyi Makinde’s landslide victory in his 2023 governorship bid have shown clearly that any political rival must never be underrated. When he ventured into politics and began his political struggle, he was classified as a political lone-ranger. When events started to unfold with determination and adept political manoeuvres, he won his first term as PDP guber candidate and started to change the face of governance, ‘Pro-bono-publico’ in Oyo State.
Makinde did not just stumble into politics. He was well- prepared for it, educationally, emotionally and logistically. Makinde has had it easy handling governance because he has passion laced with morality for it. Makinde exudes confidence because he has a ‘second address’ being a successful businessman. He is not a political blotting paper on public funds which he has so prudently managed to deliver dividends of democracy to his people.
Makinde was trapped in the labyrinth of a political skirmishes in his party, the PDP at the state, regional and National levels, a storm that blew across all political parties ahead of the 2023 general election . In that political storm, Makinde emerged as winner of both the battle and the war , a feat that posterity had ascribed only to Alexander the Great’ he said.
Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun also commended Governor Makinde for giving succour and strength to one of his predecessors ;Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo, who served as governor of Oyo state between October 1983 and December 1983.
Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, an indigene of Inisha, Osun state, had served as Secretary to the State Government under Olunloyo.
He referred to the former governor , Dr Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo ‘VOSO’ , as ‘the Iwin of books’ , erudite friend, confidant, brother and boss.
‘Makinde asked for God’s Mercy and he has gotten it . Dr Omololu Olunloyo was the Governor of old Oyo State and by providence I served under him as SSG. He suffered untold neglect as a former governor not until Makinde accorded him such a recognition that keeps him going in his advanced age.
A renowned mathematician and engineer, an adroit administrator languishing in a dilapidated building, without any serviceable vehicle for his use ,even when he took ill. I sobbed, I lamented I was worried that so this could be how an innocent and a honest public servant, who had given so much to society would get ‘compensated’ at that old age. I had once even intervened and got in touch with past administrations in Oyo state and it did not produce desired results . Here comes succour from the blue. This is a governor that had not been so contacted.
If for this alone, I doff my hat for this humane young man and I wish him a very successful 2nd term, as a steppingstone in his life’s political journey.
That was not all, he has also renamed the Ibadan Airport Road and it is now known as Omololu Olunloyo Road, this was a great honour and I commend him for doing this.
The first tenure experience would actually guide Governor Makinde for improvement.
He must use his new position together with HE Ademola Adeleke to galvanize the party at both the South West and the entire country.
Congratulations to a worthy son of the ancient city of Ibadan land’ the statement said- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme? Kindly send SMS to 08059100286, 09094171980. Thank you
