VP Shettima Warns Gov Aliyu Ahmad Against Removing Sa’ad Abubakar As Sultan Of Sokoto
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday warned Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto of Sokoto state against removing His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar as Sultan of Sokoto.
Recall that the Executive Director of the Muslim Rights Council (MURIC), Prof. Isiaq Akintola, had earlier on Monday raised the alarm that the Sokoto state government is planning to dethrone the monarch.
Akintola in a statement he issued in Lagos said Nigerian Muslims would reject any thought of removing Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar as Sultan of Sokoto .
Giving his speech during the maiden edition of the North West Peace and Security Summit in Katsina on Monday , the Vice President called the Sultan an institution that must be protected.
The summit was organized by the Northwest Governors’ Forum, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP),
