WAFCON 2024: Pastor Adeboye Wants FG To Treat Coaching Staff, Players Equally

WAFCON 2024: Pastor Adeboye Wants FG To Treat Coaching Staff, Players Equally

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has emphasized the need for  the Federal Government to treat the national women’s  team players and the coaching staff equally in respect of rewards sequel  to the victory recorded by the Falcons in the 2024 WAFCON.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Adeboye, who said this in his Sunday sermon titled ‘The Winning Team’ during the RCCG monthly Thanksgiving Service at the church’s national headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, commended President Bola Tinubu for the $100,000 reward for each of the 24 players but however noted that the coaching staff, including the head coach, Justin Madugu ought to have gotten what was made available to the players.

‘I thank the President for the gift to the Falcons.

However, I am not quite sure I agree that the coaches should receive less than the players. Without coaches, the team will not succeed.

But, I don’t want to get into controversies.

God bless the coaches, because you need them’ he said.

Recall that the Super Falcons had won the final of the 2024 African Women’s Nations Cup in Morocco a few days ago.

 The match ended 3-2.

Recall also that President Tinubu had bestowed national honours on all 24 Super Falcons players and the 11 coaching staff, including the head coach, Justin Madugu.

Each of them received the Officer of the Order of the Niger national honour, a three-bedroom apartment under the Renewed Hope Housing Scheme, and a cash award, $100,000 (naira equivalent) for players and $50,000 for each of the coaching staff .

Acknowledging the important role that coaches play, Pastor Adeboye,  who disclosed that he was a boxer in the 1960s, also added that the experience he had under his former coach has been quite beneficial.

‘Back in 1960, I had a coach who gave us a tough time. At one point, we confronted him, wondering if we were being trained for the army.

But today, I thank him. He built strength in us.

He’d ask me to push a wall as if I wanted to pull it down. A good coach sees your potential and pushes you to be better’ Adeboye said.

He also emphasized the importance of experience and discipline in sports and urged the government and members of the public to honour coaches cognizant  that they are the one behind the success of any victorious team-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
