Wala Jumat Mosque: What We Know About Imam Rufai Ibrahim’s Resignation- Kebbi Govt

Kebbi state Government clarified on Sunday that it was not in any way involved in the resignation of Malam Rufai Ibrahim as Chief Imam of Wala Jumaat Mosque in Birni Kebbi, the state capital
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Muhammad Sani Aliyu made this clarification during the news conference he presided over in Birnin Kebbi.
He said, ‘Our attention has been drawn to a viral report on social media alluding to the resignation of the one of the Chief Imams in Birnin Kebbi, the Chief Imam of Wala Jumaat Mosque, Malam Rufai Ibrahim.
We have heard with surprise that he has relinquished his appointment as the Imam of the Mosque.
Whatever those reasons of his might be , the state government has no hand in his actions’.
The Commissioner added that the state governor, Dr Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, had in his bid to assist the less privileged members of society, extended some kind gestures to the people of the state in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan to ease things for them.

He said that these kind gestures were aimed at alleviating the suffering of the people of the state.
Arch. Sani Aliyu added that the same support was extended to the various Imams across the state as leaders in their respective communities.
‘Unfortunately, at the time the Ramadan package got to the Mosque, the Imam was not there.
The Ramadan package was handed over to his assistant. We were also reliably informed that the support was handed over to him.
Unfortunately, we were also reliably informed that he did not want others to know what had exactly transpired’ he said.
The commissioner added that the same Ramadan package was extended to all the mosques across the state to reduce hardship and ease things for the people of the state.
‘Later, we heard that for some grudges, he has reported the matter to the DSS and those who were engaged in the distribution were invited for questioning.
That was why the Ministry was also invited to shed some light.
The kind gesture was extended through the Ministry of Local Government and the staff handled it.
He should have gotten back to the Commissioner, the Emirate, our Ministry of even to the governor for any inquiries’ he added.
Arch. Sani Aliyu also said the state government learned that he had resorted to the use of social media to dish out the report of his resignation.
The commissioner also noted that the Local Government under whose purview the position falls had since accepted Ibrahim’s resignation from his position while his deputy has been directed to take over pending the appointment of a new Imam.
He, however, appealed to the people of the state to remain peaceful and calm, insisting that the state government has not witch-hunted anybody
The commissioner said ‘The issue of leadership is a matter of personal interest and nobody should be forced to accept it.
We are also calling on the Gwandu Emirate Council to initiate urgent process to appoint his successor’–Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
