Wale Bolorunduro Discloses Plans To Distribute 10,000 Cocoa Seedlings To Farmers In Osun…Targets 250 Beneficiaries In Phase 1
Former Commissioner for Finance, Osun State, Dr Wale Bolorunduro has disclosed plans to distribute cocoa seedlings to farmers in Ijesha North federal constituency noting that a total of 250 people are expected to be the beneficiaries of the Phase 1 of the programme.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Tuesday noted that the new initiative called ‘Imole Osun Agricultural Empowerment Programme’ is designed to enhance agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods of the people of Ijesha North federal constituency, Osun State.
The statement also noted that Dr Wale Bolorunduro identified the challenges facing Ijesha North Federal Constituency and gave reasons why it has become important to make improved cocoa seedlings available to farmers in the federal constituency in question.

‘Historically, we have two gateways to Ilesa, the commercial hub of the Southwest. We have rich farmlands; so, we are agrarians. Our cash crops farms are old and they need replanting we therefore need seedlings and other farm inputs and implements.
My grandfather, Abe Bolorunduro was a rich Cocoa farmer and Cocoa merchant, we have other names like Ajayi D.L Ibokun, Agbajes, Bewajis etc. so, we must ensure that we create capacity for our people. What used to be productive Cocoa trees are now old and unproductive . Provision of cocoa seedlings is therefore an effective way to return wealth to Oriade and Obokun Local Governments.
Our food crops require access to the market, so, good road networks to the farm gate remain our challenge like any other agrarian communities.
Our big towns like Ijebu-Ijesha, Ipetu-Ijesha, Ibokun and Esa-Oke are required to be urbanized with renewal programmes and modern day infrastructures to improve standard of living and to create commercial corridors as gateway to Ilesa. A dual carriage way to Ijebu-Ijesha, from Ilesa and a similar one from Osogbo to Ibokun will be a good starting point. Once we modernize the towns, we will begin to see sustainable developments. That’s the challenge. Also, we need to confront youth unemployment in those our major towns and communities.
Because we are mostly farmers, most of my constituents suffer from hernia and other sickness associated with hard labour and farming, so, we need to pay attention to healthcare and hold free surgery programmes every year.
I once helped the state to facilitate Sukuk bond to fund 11 high schools, unfortunately, my Federal Constituency didn’t get a single one; may be because we didn’t have representation during the second term of Governor Aregbesola or the required number of students’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
