SSC Napoli Football club clarified on Thursday that Victor Osimhen was not deliberately insulted while calling him a player that ‘is treasured’.
Victor Osimhen had gotten a great deal of public attention after he angrily deleted Instagram posts that have to do with his club, Napoli on Wednesday.
He had also reportedly ignored teammates including Piotr Zieliński and Diego Demme after shaking hands with the team manager Santoro on arrival at the hotel where his teammates had stayed ahead of Udinese game.
After failing to score a penalty kick, a video was posted on Napoli’s TikTok account where Victor was called ‘coconut’,.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the club had since clarified that Victor was not deliberately insulted.
‘Calcio Napoli, wishing to avoid any exploitation of the issue, point out that we never wanted to offend or mock Victor Osimhen, who is a treasure of this club.
As proof of that, during the summer training retreat, the Club firmly rebuffed every offer that was received for the striker’s transfer abroad.
Social media, in particular TikTok, has always used an expressive form of language with a light heart and creativity, without wanting to, as in the case with Osimhen as protagonist, have any intention of insult or derision.
In any case, if Victor perceived any offence towards him, this was not what the club intended’ a sports journalist Fabrizio Romano quoted the club to have submitted in a statement on Thursday-Team@orientactualmags.com
