Osun state APC on Thursday stated its readiness to receive former members of The Osun Progressives (TOP) with open arms while restating commitment to party unity.
The party noted that this was sequel to the press conference held by the former TOP members in Osogbo on Tuesday announcing the start of wind-down process and the renaming of the group as ‘Omoluabi Progressives’.
Osun state APC also added that it was not in any way averse to genuine reconciliation efforts from any quarters.
Former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Najeem Folasayo Salaam, who presided over the press conference, had noted that this had the blessings of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Interior Minister, who is the patron of the group.
Director of Media, Osun state APC, Chief Kola Olabisi, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday quoted the Acting state Chairman of the party, Sooko Taju Lawal, to have stated that he saluted the courage of the leaders and members of the group to toe the line of peace which has no alternative when it comes to political stability, tranquility and improving the fortunes of the APC.
‘The state leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun was happy to receive the news of the decision taken by ‘The Osun Progressives (TOP)’ to formally disband the group and the factional executives at all levels of the party in the state which, it is believed, would translate to the reinvigoration of the party in all ramifications.
The decision of TOP to toe the path of working with the mainstream is a welcome development as our leader, the immediate-past Governor Gboyega Oyetola, is also favourably disposed to any genuine and authentic reconciliation efforts.
Therefore, we call on all members of the now disbanded group to reintegrate with the party at their respective wards and local governments and join in the party’s activities towards the 2023 General Election especially the Presidential, National and State Assemblies Elections’ Lawal stated.
The Acting State Party Chairman added that politics being a game of numbers, it’s the more, the merrier .
‘On behalf of the state leadership of our party, current state executive committee of our party and the entire leaders and members of our party across the state, I hereby state that we are not opposed to any genuine reconciliation efforts.
If one does not forget the injustices of yesterday, it will be pretty difficult to have playmates’ Lawal said.
He also submitted that the state APC would initiate and call a meeting anytime it is deemed necessary to convene such a meeting – – Team@orientactualmags.com
