Ahead of the 2023 General election, Kwara state PDP on Tuesday asserted that it had not in any way promoted political violence and never had such an idea under consideration.
The party described the recent statement issued by the Kwara state APC Publicity Secretary, Alh. Tajudeen Folaranmi Aro as ‘the hand of Esau but the voice of Jacob’ noting that he had in the statement in question tried ‘unsuccessfully to present a pre-emptive situation involving the Kwara state PDP’ .
Kwara state PDP in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Tunji Morounfoye alleged that the APC had rather been the purveyor of violence in the state citing post –primary election cases in the party which, it noted, had been absent in the PDP.
‘We all remember various meetings and events organized by the APC in Kwara state, that ended in violence and a free- for -all mayhem by factional members of their disjointed party. Was there any reason to wear APC identity markers at those meetings or events?
The APC has in recent days through phantom organizations sponsored by the party, tried to pitch Dr. Abubakar ‘Bukola Saraki (CON) against the Emir of Ilorin and the emirate. There is also the old and recycled information of pitching Dr. Saraki against the Lawal clan and supporters of the late governor, which isn’t new in the arsenal of the failed, inept and incompetent Kwara APC regime. A party that should bury its ugly head in shame, as they apologize to Nigerians and Kwarans in particular, for their destructive regime. How does one assess a state government’s performance, where they had raked in close to half a trillion naira revenue in just over three years and they have no completed landmark project to inaugurate?
In addition to the above, the APC is still living in their delusional world of receiving make- believe PDP defectors. They keep repeating same set of decampees like CNN news or the death of Shekau, the notorious Boko Haram terrorist, who always come back to life after being reportedly killed by the government, time and time again. The Kwara state APC also made mention of the disgraceful Osun ‘Buga’ gubernatorial tribunal judgment in their vile narratives. How could a judgment be written in the word of the lyrics of a hit single by the Nigerian pop star, Kizz Daniels? Who would take such a judgment seriously, except a desperately deranged person?
The PDP makes it abundantly clear to Kwarans that the APC is a confused and confusion- causing entity. Up until now we don’t know who is truly contesting as the APC candidate in most constituencies in Kwara state, as their ‘aspirants’ are mired in bitter court cases that are to be heard as far as the Supreme Court for adjudication. The Kwara state PDP doesn’t even have single primary election – related case in court’ the statement said.
PDP also asserted that the ruling APC had since gotten its popularity greatly reduced.
‘The PDP puts it to the APC that they are the ones who have lost their popularity in Kwara state. Their acceptability to Kwarans, is at an all- time low of 22% according to recent polls conducted by Aquila numbers and polls consultants, Atlanta USA.
This low rating should be compared to 69% in early 2019. Mostly the Kwara APC regime was rejected for lack of transparency, lack of performance, ineptitude, incompetence, mediocrity, double taxation and various major allegations of graft. Not to mention, poverty, inflation and wide spread hunger, brought on by their draconian misrule.
The Kwara APC is only echoing vile propaganda like in the run-up to the 2019 elections where there was a failed attempt to link Dr. ‘Bukola Saraki (CON) with the violent Offa robbery where over thirty innocent souls were lost. (May their gentle souls continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen) .
The APC has descended so low to the extent that they are using people’s unfortunate deaths as a shameless, propaganda campaign tool. We are all privy to one of the robbery suspect’s statement in court where he spoke under oath that they were forced and tortured to lie that they were sponsored by the then Senate President, Dr. Abubakar ‘Bukola Saraki (CON). The discredited chief investigating officer of the Offa robbery case, ex-cop Abba Kyiari is currently incarcerated by the Court and he is being tried for extra judicial actions and alleged involvement in drug trafficking’ the statement added.
While accusing the APC of harbouring thugs and securing the release of arrested cult members, who are later seen on their campaign trails as against the hard stance and tough anti-cultism laws that were promulgated and signed into law during the Abubakar ‘Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed administrations , the party also called on all well- meaning Kwarans and other Nigerians to go out and vote for all PDP candidates in the upcoming general election.
In separate statement, Kwara State PDP Campaign Council has also urged the state APC and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq not to cause disaffection among ethnic groups in the state.
The Campaign Council in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Lawal Akanbi Sharafadeen, its Director of Media, noted that what had been done was a repeat of the scenario enacted ahead of the 2019 general election.
‘Similar to what it did towards the 2019 general election, the APC has started its usual provocative propaganda of dragging our revered traditional institution into politics by trying to instigate crisis among the royal fathers.
For the avoidance of doubt, the recent successful campaign tour of Kwara North by the PDP was strictly to solicit the support of the zone for the PDP candidates in all elections and it had nothing to do with the leadership of our traditional institutions as this had already been settled long ago.
It is quite understandable that the success of the PDP campaign in Kwara North is unsettling for the unpopular Governor and knowing full well that a resounding success awaits the PDP campaign trail at the central, hence the Governor has resulted in playing dirty through countless unknown associations but the PDP will not come down so low but rather concentrate on issues’ the statement said.
The campaign council reiterates its commitment to respecting and upholding the sanctity of our traditional institutions adding that an attempt ‘to incite and instigate our revered institutions for cheap sympathy by the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq APC – led administration stands condemned’.
