Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has said the state government may be left with no option than to wield the big stick if lecturers at the Gombe state University (GSU) fail to return to class as directed by the university management.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Inuwa said this at the town hall meeting held in Gombe during the weekend which was called ‘A Fada A Cika’. It was organized by the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for the governor, electorate and other residents of the state,.
The governor said the state government had paid the varsity lecturers for six months now despite being on strike.
He noted that the state government had engaged the management of the university and the GSU chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) with a view to ending the strike but to no avail.
He has however submitted that the state government may henceforth implement the ‘no-work-no pay’ rule – Team@orientactualmags.com
