Why I’ve Never Discussed Conversion To Islam With My Wife-President Tinubu

Why I’ve Never Discussed Conversion To Islam With My Wife-President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday disclosed that despite being a Muslim he had never for once discussed conversion to Islam with his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, Nigerians should therefore promote love, peace and religious tolerance.

His successful interfaith marriage, he noted, makes him qualified to preach the message of unity.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the president said this during the funeral service of Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, mother of APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda in Jos, Plateau State on Saturday.

‘Hate is not an option for us. I believe in the freedom of religion; we are praying to the same God’ he said.

He also urged Nigerians to prioritize love for fellow beings over religious differences.

‘In our family, we have a strong Muslim background, and I married a Christian — a pastor, for that matter — and I have never forced her to change her religion’ the president said.

He has also reaffirmed his commitment to national unity while assuring Christian communities in northern Nigeria of his administration’s dedication to fairness and inclusivity across all faiths.

He said this during a meeting with Christian leaders at the headquarters of the Church of Christ in Nations in Jos, Plateau State.

‘I have a mission to unite this country and ensure its prosperity, and we are making progress’ a statement issued by the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga quoted him as saying.

Urging clerics to continue to have faith in his administration, he noted that leaders have a collective responsibility to manage religious issues for the benefit of all Nigerians while restating his administration’s determination to end insecurity and revive the nation’s economy.

‘We are defeating bandits, and we will defeat them. We will deal with them and end the farmers-herders clashes’ he said.

He also recalled attending meetings in Jos ahead of the SDP presidential primary in 1992.

‘When we were coming here, Governor Caleb Mutfwang showed me one of the bungalows — the house of Ambassador Yahaya Kwande. During the SDP days, we met there to decide the fate of MKO Abiola. Today, I am grateful to be alive, and to God be the glory, to be President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to come here to bid farewell to a mother of the community’ he said.

In his remarks, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, described his late mother as a hardworking woman who lived on medication for 47 years.

‘I am here to thank God for her life. My mother worked for 24 hours despite her health condition, supporting us and providing humanitarian assistance’ he said.

The funeral prayer was attended by the Senate President, Barrister Godswill Akpabio; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr George Akume, the governor of Kwara State, who is also the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; National Security Adviser, Mallam  Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff, Presidency, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr Heineken Lokpobiri; Minister of Regional Development, Mr Abubakar Momoh; former Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Minister of Special Duties, Zephaniah Jisalo-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
