The existing infighting in the Baruten local government chapter of the APC has resulted in the exit of Mr Mohammed Abubakar Seko from Governor Abdulrahman Abdurasaq’s team.
Seko had been a strong supporter of the governor before 2019 and he was one of his principal loyalists in the Kwara North.
He was one of the main organizers of the APC campaign rally held in Baruten local government ahead of the 2019 General Election.
Following the victory of the APC in the 2019 General Election, Seko had somewhat become an outsider because of not being in government and the Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Hon Yakubu Danladi had by virtue of his position asserted himself as APC leader in the local government and nothing was done without his input .
Aware of Seko’s closeness to Governor Abdulrasaq , he naturally became the Speaker’s rival and the two began to compete for the governor’s attention, Danladi however waited in an ambush for him.
‘The Speaker has had the upper hand despite that Seko, an indigene of Shiya, was later appointed as governor’s aide. Danladi has had a dominant say on who becomes what in the local government.
While Alhaji Bio Ibrahim, a former Sports minister, had left APC for the PDP , former senator Ahmed Mohammed and some other APC leaders in the local government had remained in the party hoping that ‘water will seek its own level’.
Seko however made it easy for the Speaker’s camp to get his political reputation blackened because of his friendly nature. He interacts freely with members of the opposition parties and attends events organized by them.
He was particularly criticized for being seen regularly with Yahaya, who is the PDP Okuta Yashikira House of Assembly candidate’ said a source.
The cordial relationship between Seko and the governor had since been made to witness a hitch following the development recorded on Friday.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned receiving a letter from the APC Ward exco accusing him of anti-party activities and inviting him for questioning really irked Seko and made him hit the roof and he had since dropped his letter of resignation.
Seko was until his resignation from his position on Friday, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation.
The development recorded on Friday was a replica of what obtained in the same federal constituency in 2019.
Hon Abdulahi Danbaba had not only resigned from his position as Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed’s Special Assistant on Non-Governmental Affairs in August 2018 but also later left PDP for the APC , got Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajibe House of Assembly nomination and won the election-Team@orientactualmags.com
