Why My Late Father’s Military Colleagues Have Continued To Gang Up On Him-Sadiq Abacha

Son of late General Sani Abacha, Sadiq on Saturday reacted to the assertions made by retired General Ibrahim Babangida in his new book ‘A Journey in Service’ alleging that his father’s military colleagues had always ganged up against him.

Recall that Babangida had in the new book in question which was launched in Abuja on Thursday, explained his role in the annulment of the June 12,1993 presidential election.
The election was won by late Chief MKO Abiola, a businessman, publisher, and a politician, who died in detention on July 7, 1998.
While noting that the annulment was under consideration, Babangida had said this was however carried out without getting the go-ahead from him and he has put the blame on the doorstep of the then Chief of Defence Staff, late General Sani Abacha, who later became the Head of State after ousting Chief Ernest Shonekan, who headed the Interim National Government from power.
Sadiq however said he is proud of his father while noting that history will be kind to him.
‘The man Abacha—you have always been the one they envied with silent deceit. History shall remember you for being a better leader, no matter how much they try to put you down.
As a son, I am most proud of you today. You indeed are the man they wished they were half of’ he wrote.
Sadiq added a Hausa proverb, “Duk wanda yayi jifa a kasuwa,” meaning, “Whoever throws a stone in the market…”—a reminder that every action carries consequences-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
