Wike-Fubara Rift: A Boon For Peace Prospects As ‘Friendly Tone’ Fills The Air At Peace Meeting Held In Abuja

Wike-Fubara Rift: A Boon For Peace Prospects As ‘Friendly Tone’ Fills The Air At Peace Meeting Held In Abuja

‘Friendly tone’ apparently filled the air at the peace meeting held in Abuja at the instance of President Bola Tinubu on Thursday night and there are signs that there is end in sight to the political rift between FCT minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike and Mr. Siminalayi Fubara.

Members of the state house of assembly also attended the meeting.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Wike, who has commented on the ‘peace meeting’ held behind closed-door at the Presidential Villa, noted that the two camps have taken a resolve to end hostilities and work together.

‘We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor also agreed to work together with all of us. We are members of the same political family.

Yes, just like humans, you have a disagreement, and then you also have a time to settle your disagreement.

And that has been finally concluded today, and we have come to report to Mr. President, that is what we have agreed. So, for me, everything is over’ he said.

The minister has also urged calm while asking political followers to note that the ‘political crisis’ is over.

‘And I enjoin everybody who want to work with us, to also work together with everybody, that there’s no more acrimony. There’s nothing to say’ he added.

Mr Siminalayi Fubara, who was suspended as governor of Rivers State on March 18, 2025, following the declaration of emergency rule in the state by President Bola Tinubu, has also described the development as a moment of divine intervention and a crucial turning point for the ‘Treasure Base of the Nation’.

‘For me, it’s a day we have to thank Almighty God. For me, it’s very important that this day has come to be’ he said.

The suspended governor also emphasized that there is a need for peace in the state.

‘What we need for the progress of Rivers State is peace, and by the special grace of God, this night, with the help of Mr. President and the agreement of the leaders of the state, our leader, peace has returned in Rivers State’ he added.

Mr Fubara also promised total commitment to preserving the ‘peace’ achieved during the presidential peace meeting, adding that ‘We’ll do everything within our power to make sure that we sustain it this time around’-
