Wike Reacts To Claims Of Christian Genocide, Says It is Politics Taken Too Far

FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike on Monday reacted to claims of Christian genocide in the country while criticizing the nation’s opposition leaders for using the recent statements made by President Donald Trump in respect of the security situation in the country to drive a political agenda against President Bola Tinubu.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Barrister Nyesom Wike, who said this while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday, added that the narrative claiming that Christians are being persecuted in the country is politically-motivated.

‘Nobody will be happy for the death of anybody, whether a Christian or a Muslim.

No right–thinking person would say they are happy that people are being killed. Not the President I know.

The former Chief of Defence is a Christian. The Secretary to the Government is a Christian. How can anybody say that this government will support the killing of our own people? It is politics taken too far’ he said.

The minister also said the source of information relied on by President Donald Trump has not presented the true situation of things in the country..

‘I don’t know where the Trump administration is getting the information. But nobody can say this government is stoking fire so that a particular religion is being violated. That is not correct’ he said.

The former Rivers State governor also said the whole thing may have to do with the idea of clipping President Bola Tinubu’s wings ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

‘Yes, it is a plot’ he submitted while accusing the opposition of trying to ‘divide the country through religion’.

‘The opposition today has seen that no party is ready or prepared to challenge the President’s return to power. What do we do? Bring up something that can divide the country. Terrorists are killing Christians. Terrorists are killing Muslims. Terrorists are killing non-believers. Nobody should be happy.

An invasion of Nigeria is not in the interest of any Nigerian. Look at Somalia, Libya, Iraq. After foreign forces come in, those countries become destabilised’ he said.

The Federal Government, he added, is doing the needful to tackle insecurity and terrorism while noting that collective efforts are needed in this regard -Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
