Winner-Take-All Approach ‘Wrong’ , I’m Not Planning To Leave PDP For APC-Gov Makinde
Despite the seemingly intractable intraparty conflict and the leadership imbroglio in his party, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has clarified and submitted that he is not planning to leave the PDP for APC.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Governor Seyi Makinde made this clarification during the public presentation of a book authored by former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, titled ‘Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration’ in Abuja on Wednesday.
Reacting to recent defections to the ruling APC, Makinde declared that he will not join the bandwagon.
‘I am here for this book launch. I am not an APC member and I am not about to port to APC’ he said.
The governor also noted that Nigeria’s development would only be achieved through sincere collaboration among leaders, regardless of political affiliation adding that partisan rivalry should not override the collective national interest.
The political elites who has ambitions, should according to him be blamed for the country’s growing divisions which do not reflect the wishes of ordinary Nigerians.
Most citizens,he added, desire unity and peaceful coexistence, but these aspirations are however often exploited along religious, ethnic and regional lines for personal and political advantage.
Governor Makinde also decried the ‘winner-takes-all’ approach that promotes exclusion and weakens national cohesion while emphasizing the need for intentional efforts to design political and governance structures that encourage fairness, inclusion and long-term stability-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
