Xmas Gift: I Gave N1,000 To Children, Young Ladies Who’re My Neighbours Not Constituents Who Visited My Jalingo Residence-Taraba Speaker
Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Bonzena has clarified and submitted that he did not give N1,000 each to constituents who had travelled from far places to visit his residence and wish him merry Christmas noting that those who got N1,000 as Xmas gift were children and young women who are his neighbours.
He had done this in reaction to media reports claiming that some women and young people from Zing Local Government had protested after about 37 constituents who were reportedly invited by the Speaker to his residence in Jalingo for Christmas package got N1,000 each.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that in separate statements on Saturday, the state House of Assembly and the Zing Watch Group clarified that the N1,000 xmas gift was meant for children and young ladies around the Speaker’s residence in Jalingo, not for the visiting constituents.
‘For the record, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly did not present N1,000 as Xmas gift to his constituents. The N1,000 Christmas gesture was for children and young ladies around his residence.
Those who mistakenly came to Jalingo were informed by the Speaker’s aide to return to Yakoko, for the event and the legislators were already there’ Ibrahim Bello Kotto, Kenneth Mezeh Joshua, and Saddam C.Y. submitted in separate statements issued on behalf of the Zing Watch Group and the media department of the state House of Assembly respectively.
‘During the Yakoko event, stakeholders, including elders, religious leaders, youth and women’s groups, and party faithful, met with the Speaker and received support such as wrappers, rice, and startup funds for businesses.
