You Can’t Apply For Eagle Square On Social Media Or TV Programme, Wike Tells Organizers Of Hunger Protest

Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, explained on Saturday that anyone seeking to use the Eagle Square for any event must apply and take other necessary steps.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the minister, who said this during the Town Hall Meeting that was held by the ministry at the Conference Room of the Federal Capital Development Authority in Abuja on Saturday , asked the people promoting the #EndBadGovernance protest to follow the required procedure.
Recall that some young Nigerians are planning to hit the streets to protest against high food prices in the country and the nationwide protest is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024.
.
Recall also that a group, the Take It Back Movement, had sent a letter to the minister requesting for the use of the Square for its protest, as well as the provision of security and utilities for those who would be participating in the hunger protest.
Director of Mobilization of the group, Damilare Adenola had also in the letter in question asked the minister to ‘ensure the provision of a 24-hour power supply, toilet facilities, water, and security for the convenience of Nigerian citizens who will be at Eagle Square’.
‘I’m just reading on social media that they have applied to me to grant them the use of Eagle Square. Do you apply to me through social media? You will write a letter to the Minister. I will see you, who you are, what do you want to do, how many days will you spend, how much will you pay?
I watched them on Channels News telling the IG they had applied. You don’t apply to me through Channels TV; you must apply properly. You must pay what we call Security Cost so that if there’s any damage to the facility, we will take that security cost and repair it. We don’t just give people the venue because they have applied; you must fulfill the conditions’ Wike said.
The former Rivers state governor also disclosed that some people had already paid for the use of the venue, adding that the Take It Back Movement cannot demand for the use of Eagle Square on a short notice.
‘People have paid, yes, booking. Should I go and cancel those people’s bookings because you want to protest? He who comes first will take the approval. First come, first served’ he submitted–Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
