2027: Kwara ADC Guber Candidate Says ‘I Answer Only To God And Kwarans’, Challenges Rivals To Public Debate

2027: Kwara ADC Guber Candidate Says ‘I Answer Only To God And Kwarans’, Challenges Rivals To Public Debate

Ahead of the 2027 Kwara State governorship election, ADC guber candidate, Hon. Zakari Mohammed asserted on Thursday that his16-year blend of executive and legislative experience makes him the most qualified contender for the top job in the state.

Talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com at his campaign office in Ilorin, the state capital, Hon Zakari Mohammed pledged to implement decisive measures to combat insecurity and unemployment while adding that a major pillar of his agenda focuses on reviving and strengthening technical education.

Flanked by ADC bigwigs including former envoy, Professor Yisa Gana, Deputy State chairman, Hon Gabriel Kanajogun, Kwara North senate candidate, Hon Bala Usman, Chief Adetoro, and Hon Abubakar Idris , the governorship hopeful criticized the phasing out of technical schools, noting that this decline has forced Nigeria to source artisans from neighboring countries effectively outsourcing local jobs.

To boost the local economy and generate employment, the ADC governorship candidate promised deliberate policies to improve agricultural productivity emphasizing the need to process commodities like shea butter locally within Kwara State rather than exporting them raw.

Hon Zakari Mohammed also took a swipe at his opponents, claiming that two among them are merely being propelled by political godfathers while in contrast, his candidacy relies solely on God and the people of Kwara.

He challenged his fellow contestants to a public debate to openly present their manifestos to the electorate.

Addressing the broader 2027 general election, Hon Zakari Mohammed urged Nigerians to resist intimidation, urging voters to cast their ballots and actively defend their votes at the polls.

When questioned by reporters about how he would perform differently given his past roles in previous administrations in the state, Hon Zakari Mohammed responded that life demands shifts in direction emphasizing that he had maintained a spotless record with no history of investigation by anti-graft agencies.

Asserting that he did his best while serving under past leaders, the ADC guber candidate said it is now time for him to take full charge, steer Kwara State in a fresh direction, and deliver impactful governance.

Asked to react to Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi’s claim of being the most experienced contestant, and to also know if he feels intimidated by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s backing of the APC gubernatorial candidate, he remarked that comparing himself to the Speaker is like ‘comparing death with sleep’.

Hon Zakari Mohammed added that the unfolding situation calls the country’s leadership recruitment process into question.

‘I was in the civil service for 12 years. Later, I served as Chairman of Kwara United, a Special Assistant, and a commissioner. I was also a member of the House of Representatives for eight years. The Speaker only heads 23 people, whereas I was the spokesman for the 7th House of Representatives and later chaired a committee with over 60 members. I know how to share power, and I am the most qualified among the contestants. That is why I am challenging them to a debate, let us showcase our skills. I am a product that markets itself, but others are being marketed by their leaders’ he said.

He also promised that the legislature will be truly independent under him as governor while promising to ensure a vibrant House of Assembly that will promote good governance.

Hon Zakari Mohammed however chided the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly, labeling them a ‘rubber stamp’ and citing their failure to pass the Freedom of Information bill, which has continued to face obstacles in the state parliament-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
