2027: Kwara ADC Promises Transformational Leadership, Announces Julius Olaoye As Deputy Governorship Candidate

Ahead of the 2027 General Election, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kwara State chapter, has assured residents of the state that the party is prepared to deliver purposeful, people-centred governance that will bring about meaningful and lasting development if its candidates are elected into office.

The assurance was given on Monday by the state Chairman of the party, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed while talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com after presiding over a strategic meeting in Ilorin. The meeting was attended by the party’s governorship, senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates, and members of the State Working Committee.

Hon Babatunde Mohammed, a former Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, also announced that the nomination of Elder Julius Olaide Olaoye as the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate was ratified during the meeting and he has been formally presented to the public as RT HON. ZAKARI MOHAMMED’s running mate.

‘We are here for two important reasons’ Hon. Mohammed said. ‘First, to formally unveil our Deputy Governorship Candidate, Elder Julius Olaide Olaoye from Offa, who is RT HON. ZAKARI MOHAMMED’s running mate. Secondly, to meet with all our candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Kwara State House of Assembly, and to formally present them to our incoming governor, by the grace of God, RT HON. ZAKARI MOHAMMED. That is why members of the State Working Committee are here with us today’ he said.

Disclosing the resolutions of the meeting, Hon. Mohammed said the party has approved a statewide grassroots consultation programme aimed at engaging directly with the people ahead of the official commencement of campaigns.

He announced that the ADC will soon embark on an intensive house-to-house consultation across the state, while a special prayer session has been scheduled to hold at the state secretariat of the party on the 27th of this month. He also revealed that a major rally will be held later in the month.

‘One of our key resolutions is to immediately intensify our house-to-house consultations across the state. Although, we are still awaiting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially declare the commencement of campaigns, we will continue to engage our people at the grassroots within the provisions of the law. We have also fixed a special prayer session at our party secretariat on the 27th of this month, after which a major rally will follow’ he said.

Hon. Mohammed further submitted that the party’s choice of the two prominent Nigerians on its governorship ticket reflects its commitment to justice, fairness and equity among the three senatorial districts in Kwara State.

According to him, with the incumbent governor coming from Kwara Central and Kwara South having occupied the office between 2011 and 2019, it is only fair that Kwara North should produce the next Governor of the state.

‘We thank God that the first major decision we have taken is to uphold justice and fairness by allowing Kwara North to produce our governorship candidate. Kwara Central currently occupies the office of Governor, while Kwara South had its turn between 2011 and 2019. We therefore believe it is only equitable that Kwara North should produce the next Governor, and that is exactly what we have done’ he said.

He added that the party also took into consideration the importance of religious balance by selecting a Christian from Kwara South as the deputy governorship candidate.

‘We equally recognize the importance of religious inclusion and harmony. Consequently, we have chosen a respected Christian leader from Kwara South, Elder Julius Olaide Olaoye as our governorship candidate’s running mate’ Hon Mohammed submitted.

Expressing confidence in the party’s prospects, Hon. Mohammed said the ADC is well-positioned to emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.

‘By the grace of Almighty God and with the support of the good people of Kwara State, our traditional rulers, community leaders, opinion moulders and other critical stakeholders, we are confident that the ADC will win the 2027 governorship election and make a remarkable difference in the lives of Kwarans. Our administration will usher in a new era of responsible leadership, inclusive governance and sustainable development’ he said.
