2027 Kwara Guber: APC Yet To Present Clear, Detailed And Verifiable Agenda-KAI
Ahead of the 2027 governorship election, the Kwara Advancement Initiative (KAI) has questioned what the ruling APC has to offer the people of Kwara State, arguing that the party has yet to demonstrate a clear commitment or present a convincing agenda for the future of the state.
The organization’s position comes as PDP governorship candidate, Engineer Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, prepares to unveil his manifesto, titled ‘My Covenant with Kwara (SBKCompact)’, on November 12, allowing Kwarans to examine his vision, policy priorities, and proposed programmes for the state.
In a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com which was signed by the Head of the Democratic Mobilization and Monitoring Desk of KAI, Hajia Adeola Bashiru, the organization recalled what happened before the 2019 governorship election, when several APC spokespersons made extensive promises to the people of Kwara on behalf of the then guber candidate, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
KAI alleged that after securing victory and assuming office, Governor Abdulrazaq distanced himself from several promises and assurances made by those who spoke on his behalf during the campaign, leaving the people with expectations that were not matched by the commitments they had been given.
The organization argued that this experience raises serious questions about the credibility of the APC’s campaign promises and why Kwarans should be expected to accept another round of political assurances without a clear, detailed and verifiable agenda.
It further questioned what the APC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi, intends to offer the people, particularly given his position as Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and his association with the outgoing administration.
KAI also asked Speaker Danladi to explain how his proposed leadership and development agenda will be different from the direction pursued by the Abdulrazaq administration, rather than relying on the political platform and structures of the incumbent government.
According to the organization, the people of Kwara State should not be expected to surrender their future to another campaign built around political sentiments, slogans and promises without clearly defined commitments and measurable plans for implementation noting that the 2027 governorship election should provide an opportunity for citizens to demand specific commitments, measurable targets and clear accountability from every candidate seeking their mandate.
KAI noted that the unveiling of SBKCompact presents an opportunity for Kwarans to scrutinize the PDP candidate’s proposals and compare them with whatever agenda the APC eventually places before the electorate.
