2027: Kwara North Elders Endorse President Tinubu For 2nd Term, Demand APC Governorship Nomination…Why Gov Abdulrazaq Secured Our Support For His Re-election In 2023-Emir Of Lafiaji

As part of organized efforts to promote and achieve equitable treatment and opportunities for the three senatorial districts in Kwara State, prominent indigenes of the state, members of the ruling APC and those who are supporting the agitation for a Kwara Northerner as the state governor, attended an important ‘mega’ rally held at the Metropolitan Square, Ilorin on Tuesday.

The ‘mega’ rally had as its theme ‘Kwara North 100% Unity’ and it was a gathering that recorded assemblage of dignitaries including prominent traditional rulers, politicians, people who are politically neutral and other stakeholders in the State of Harmony.

Four governorship aspirants from the Kwara North; Senator Sadiq Umar, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Salihu Yakubu Danladi, the Makama Lafiagi, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu, and Rep Mohammed Omar Bio attended the event.

Other dignitaries at the event include Dr Lanre Shittu, Executive Chairman of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Shehu Adaramaja, former Senator Mohammed Ahmed, former House Leader, Alhaji Hassan Oyeleke, former Commissioner for Sports, Hon Kale Ayo, Kwara South APC senate aspirant, Prince Lekan Adewoye, Barrister Anthony Kayode Towoju, a member of the state House of Assembly, Hon Abdulahi Danbaba, a former state lawmaker, Hon Raheem Jimoh, chairman of Ifelodun local government, Hon Femi Yusuf, Chief J.B Ayeni, former Transport minister, Hon Bio Ibrahim, and Rep Ahmed Saba.

Hon Bio Ibrahim was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and his speech set the tone for the event by laying out the reasons for the ‘Kwara North’ campaign. He noted that since the creation of the state and the return of democracy in 1999, the senatorial district has only produced a governor who was in charge of the state for just 22 months.

Kwara North, he added, has sustained good relationship with the two other districts and at different times supported people from Kwara Central and Kwara South to produce governors of the state submitting that ‘what is good for the goose is good for the gander’.

‎’We have had various dispensations in both military and civilian administrations since 1967.

‎Kwara State has been known as State of Harmony, we live peacefully together and for years, Kwara North has been supportive of all leaderships in Kwara State both military and civilian whether Kwara Central or Kwara south’ he said.‎

While noting that Kwara North had not at any point in time struggled or fought with others, he added that this time around, the senatorial district is demanding that APC should allow the region to produce its gubernatorial candidate.

The former minister also declared that the stakeholders have endorsed the courageous and brilliant President Bola Tinubu for a second term.

Rep Ahmed Saba, former Commissioner for Information, Hon Abdulmumini Katibi, and other APC bigwigs, in their separate speeches also provided sufficient reasons why Kwara North should be allowed to produce the next governor of the state.

The Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Muhammed Kudu Kawu, who gave the most important speech at the event, recalled how traditional rulers from the region began the agitation for a Kwara Northerner as the state governor by meeting twice in Patigi and later held another one in Bode Saadu while Kwara South monarchs had also joined them in supporting the cause during a meeting held in Ajase-Ipo.

Disclosing plans to take the ‘equity message’ to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Lafiaji monarch said the event held on Tuesday was the grand finale while asserting that Kwara North is the second in the state in terms of ‘voting strength’.

He also noted that the people of the region are united and will be presenting a common front ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq according to him earned the support of the people of Kwara North for his re-election in 2023 because he has done creditably well while adding that it was not however without a quid pro quo-a support for Kwara North indigene as governor in 2027.

The monarch thanked well-meaning Kwarans who have supported the ‘Kwara North’ campaign while noting that the region has shown unalloyed support for other senatorial districts in past elections and should therefore be allowed to produce the next governor of the state.

Alhaji Muhammed Kudu Kawu also urged those who will take decisions on the issue to be on the side of history and justice-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
