2027: LOD Hosts Interfaith Prayer Service For President Tinubu, Speaker Danladi, Other Kwara APC Candidates

Ahead of the 2027 general election, a Kwara State APC bigwig, Hon. Lawal Olanrewaju David, who is popularly called LOD, has rallied top Christian and Islamic clerics, traditional rulers, and party loyalists in Ifelodun local government for a special interfaith prayer session to seek divine support for the party’s candidates.

Speaking on the purpose of the programme, Hon. Ridwan Olomowewe highlighted LOD’s long-standing dedication to the APC and its members noting that the initiative was born out of Hon David’s deep commitment to ensuring total victory for all APC candidates, prompting him to bring together diverse religious and traditional leaders to invoke God’s blessings ahead of the upcoming elections.

The interfaith prayer service held at Igbomina House, Ifelodun local government on Monday, August 31, 2026,was jointly presided over by Rev. Dr. M.O. Olawale and the Chief Imam of Igbaja, who is also the Chairman of the Council of Ulamas, Ifelodun local government, Sheikh Yunus Yakub Akorede.

In his short sermon, Rev. Olawale reminded political leaders and candidates of political parties that power belongs solely to God.

‘Those who are occupying positions of authority and those who are looking forward to occupying positions of authority should know that there are people who are stronger, richer, and have more influence than them but are not however fortunate to get chosen’ the cleric submitted while also commending LOD for recognizing that only God can make the party’s candidates earn ”electoral success’.

The Islamic and Christian clerics prayed for ‘electoral success’ for all the APC candidates especially President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abdulrazaq, Hon. Benjamin Oyinloye, APC House of Assembly candidate (Share/Oke-Ode constituency), Hon. Lawal Sulaiman, House of Assembly Candidate (Omupo constituency), Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun House of Representatives candidate, Prince Lekan Adewoye, Kwara South APC Senate candidate and Eng. Saliu Yukubu Danladi, the party’s  governorship candidate.

The event also received strong backing from the party’s leadership at the state and local government levels.

 Deputy Chairman, Kwara State APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari called Hon. David a ‘true party man’ while also praising the commendable initiative.

Addressing the internal dynamics of the party, Samari urged members to actively reconcile with aggrieved individuals and welcome everyone with open arms especially those who may have not yet embraced Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi’s candidacy saying God will soften their minds and they will eventually rethink their decision.

Expressing gratitude to the attendees, the host, Hon. Lawal Olanrewaju David, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for being passionate about delivery of good governance.

He urged aggrieved party members to bury their differences and work towards a clean sweep for APC in the upcoming general election.

‘When there is light, there is hope. Let us support all our party members and ensure that all our party’s candidates emerge victorious..

Those who may not have the opportunity to get something today will definitely get tomorrow. Having the party, its objectives, and its goals as our priority should be the major focus of all the party members now’ he said.

Party faithful across the state should according to him give total support to all APC candidates, from the federal to the state levels, emphasizing that collective electoral victory must remain paramount.

Hon Lawal Olanrewaju David concluded his speech with an impassioned plea for unity, patience, and tolerance within the party ranks saying ‘with patience, things will go round’.

LOD’s selflessness and altruism drew high praise from the APC House of Representatives candidate for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun federal constituency, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, the visibly elated, Dr. Ajakaye described Hon David as the quintessential party man whose unwavering loyalty should serve as a blueprint for others.

‘LOD spent his resources, time, and energy, but did not get party nomination. Yet, his loyalty to the party has remained unwavering, total, and unflinching.

God will definitely reward him because when you support others, God will also send people to support you in your time of need’ he said.

Dr Ajakaye urged electors across the 18 wards in Ifelodun Local Government to cast their ballots solidly for the APC, promising that their loyalty would be handsomely rewarded through impactful governance.

Adding his voice to the commendations, Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Femi Yusuf, remarked that the Monday event was a beautiful display of love and a testament to the fact that genuine party loyalists still exist.

Hon Yusuf acknowledged that while the recent House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship primaries had left some members disgruntled, the true test of party supremacy lies in an individual’s ability to look past personal grievances for the greater good.

‘The best among us is anyone who can allow their love for the party to subdue such grievances and continue to support the party’ he said.

He commended LOD for his commitment to the party saying he has, without occupying any position, renovated classrooms, graded roads and impacted numerous lives. He also recalled that he was his co-aspirant ahead of the 2024 local government elections but immediately he saw the signs that he, (Femi Yusuf), will emerge as the party’s chairmanship candidate, he visited his residence, promised ‘full support’ and lived up to expectations.

Representative of Prince Lekan Adewoye, Alhaji I.B Lawal, who is the Ajiroba of Babanloma, also thanked LOD for creating a platform to seek divine support for the APC candidates noting that he has shown strong and consistent loyalty to the party.

Hon Lawal Olanrewaju David had between 2024 and 2026 sought Ifelodun Local Government APC chairmanship nomination ahead of the 2024 local government elections and Omupo state constituency APC House of Assembly nomination but failed to get nominated by the APC and yet remains loyal to the party.

The representative of Elese of Igbaja land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Babalola Awuni Arepo III, Alh. Prince Bashir Arepo and the Alatanda of Atanda, Oba Abdulwahab Saheed in their separate speeches commended Hon. Lawal Olanrewaju David for organizing the programme while praying for the success of APC candidates in the upcoming elections.

One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of free exercise books to the people by Hon Lawal Olanrewaju David .
