2027: President Tinubu To Have ‘Little Presence’ On Campaign Trail As Gov Adeleke Urges Support For His Re-election

2027: President Tinubu To Have ‘Little Presence’ On Campaign Trail As Gov Adeleke Urges Support For His Re-election

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday presided over the inauguration ceremony of the APC presidential Council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja urging party members to secure votes at their respective wards.

He also told the party leaders and members that he will only thank them dearly if the party records  electoral success next year.

‘No one gets credit for an incomplete assignment. So, until you deliver the next election, until you deliver your wards, until you deliver the votes, before we can say ‘thank you’.

The APC is ready. We have not gathered merely to inaugurate a council; we have gathered to renew a covenant, a covenant with the Nigerian people and the historic responsibility they have entrusted to us as Nigeria’s governing party. We promise we will not let them down,” he said.

President Tinubu also expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory, asking members if they are ready for the task ahead or not?

‘I celebrate you. I celebrate you, no doubt about that. Nigeria will continue to celebrate you. You will see the joy of this victory. You will share in the joy’ he said.

The president however hinted at playing minimal role and having a little presence on the campaign trail citing his presidential duties and responsibilities.

‘You have warned me and asked me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance. I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision. Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before.

The responsibility of this office does not pause. That responsibility did not recognise our agenda here today. The Constitution allows INEC to make room for parliament but not for the campaign. The job must go on.

However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas, so you will excuse me from going everywhere with you’ he said.

The president also promised to ensure continued commitment to the manifesto and goals of the party while emphasizing the need to be determined and daring.

‘ I am your errand man, even as president, I raise my hand to a full commitment that I will abide by my promises and the manifesto, the objective and intention of our party. That is all I give you.  There was a time the entire Lagos was to be submerged, Atlantic was ferocious, the catastrophe was coming, when you watch TV you see catastrophe in America, new Orleans and we put our heads together to tame the Atlantic, we went to the archives since Nigeria was created find all the drawings and everything we dared the Atlantic, go there today you will see Eko Atlantic, you will be marveled, there is a limit but there is no limit to daring, you must dare, you must be determined’ he added.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State was the cynosure of eyes at the inauguration ceremony and one of the highlights of the event was when he danced with the president.

Delivering his goodwill speech, he urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid saying four years is not enough for reforms to yield desired results.

‘I bring greetings all the way from Osun State. I am the light and the light is here. I can feel the victory coming in 2027. Nobody can stop this movement, I am ready to lead this movement. We are going to sing, we are going to dance all the way back to Aso Rock.

So, anybody that is thinking otherwise should have a rethink, we must give our father, the president of the nation, time for his reforms to work.

It’s not easy, 4 years is not going to be enough. That is why I’m here to throw my weight behind him because we want action, not too much talking.

Because we don’t have time, the work has begun. I’ve already started mine. From every corner, let us rise and make sure that our president is re-elected so that he can complete his good work.

And one thing I want Nigerians to know, we shall continue to pray for our leaders. Continue praying for our leaders, continue praying for Mr. President. If he succeeds, we all succeed. And I know by the special grace of God , we shall get there’ he submitted.
