Aliyu Bello Takes Over As Kwara Customs Chief…Promises To Build On Outgoing Controller’s Achievements
Comptroller Aliyu Gaya Bello has taken over as head of the Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Bello was at the Zone A Headquarters,Lagos before his redeployment to the Kwara command.
The outgoing Kwara Customs Chief, Compt. H.B Ahmed, has since been redeployed to Zone D Headquarters, Bauchi.
Spokesman for the Kwara Command, Chado Zakari, who announced this in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday, noted that this was done during recent deployment of Controllers by the Comptroller General of Customs, retired Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali.
He also added that Compt. H. B Ahmed has urged support for Aliyu Bello
‘At a brief Handing over ceremony held on Thursday, 18th August 2022 at the Command Headquarters, Ilorin, Kwara state, Compt. H.B Ahmed appealed to officers and men of the Command to extend the same level of support and cooperation he had enjoyed to his successor.
Compt. H. B Ahmed also thanked the Comptroller General of Customs and the management team for the opportunity to serve as area controller’ he said.
Chado added that Ahmed urged customs officers in the command to give the new controller maximum support in order to effectively discharge the great responsibility bestowed upon him while praying for God’s guidance and support for a successful tenure.
Giving his speech, Compt. A.G Bello said he will build on the achievements of Ahmed.
‘We have to intensify efforts to collect maximum revenue and suppress smuggling to the barest minimum’ Chado quoted Bello to have said.
The new Customs Area Controller, he added, also urged all officers to ensure that in discharging their responsibilities, they imbibe the culture of transparency and professionalism.
Bello also warned that he would not tolerate any act of misconduct on the part of the customs officers.
The new Customs boss congratulated and commended the outgoing CAC for attaining an enviable height when it comes to Revenue generation and anti -smuggling efforts.
He has therefore promised to work assiduously to build on his achievements while noting that, with the ongoing border drill exercise, the task ‘to effectively secure our land border remains his utmost priority’.
