Gov Wike Declares Tomorrow Public Holiday Ahead Of Tinubu’s Visit To Rivers

Governor Nyesom Wike has declared tomorrow, Wednesday, May 3 public holiday in Rivers state.

He noted that this was done to allow residents welcome the President-elect, Asiwaju  Bola Tinubu, who would be embarking on a trip to the state for a two-day visit.

 Team@orientactualmags.com learned  Wike’s media aide, Kelvin Ebiri ,who disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, added that Tinubu would inaugurate Rumuola/Rumuokwuta Flyover project and the ultra-modern Magistrates’ Court Complex, Port Harcourt during his two-day official visit to the state.

 ‘For us, it is an honour to the government and people of Rivers state to host the President-Elect on this historic visit.

Consequently, I urge all Rivers citizens to come out en mass to receive our President-Elect, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and display the traditional Rivers hospitality as he inaugurates these legacy projects to God’s glory and the advancement of our development.

Given this, I hereby declare Wednesday, 3rd May 2023, a public holiday to enable the people of Rivers State to receive our President-Elect rousingly’ the statement said.

The statement added that all shops and business premises along Rumuola to Rumuokwuta roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government  shall remain closed from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

It will be recalled that Wike was among the governors of PDP-controlled states, who refused to campaign for presidential candidate of their party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ahead of the presidential election held on February 25, 2023.

Governor Nyesom Wike   was  the leader of the PDP governors  popularly called  G-5  governors.

The G-5  governors  are Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu)-Team@orientactualmags.com
