President Tinubu Presides Over Inaugural Cabinet Meeting In Abuja, Urges Ministers To Meet ‘Expectations’

President Bola Tinubu  on Monday held the first cabinet meeting of his presidency.

He was sworn in as president on Monday. May 29 , 2023.

Among attendees of the first Federal Executive Council meeting held  at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja are the newly sworn in ministers.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Vice President Kashim Shettima;  Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume;  Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan; and the president’s  Chief of Staff , Femi Gbajabiamila were also there.

Though FEC meetings were held on Wednesdays during the Obasanjo, Yaradua, Jonathan   and Buhari administrations,  it was not clear however if it would henceforth be held on Mondays.

The president emphasized the need for the cabinet members to meet Nigerians’ expectations during the inaugural meeting on Monday.

‘You and I know that expectations are high, and these are tough times. We must work hard and move ourselves to create a buoyant economy that will serve Nigeria. We have an employment rate that is unacceptable, and we are facing threats from climate change.

In order to turn things around, you have been selected to perform your utmost best. Our policy implementation will reform the economy, ensure inclusive growth, and strengthen security for peace and prosperity. Without security, there can be no investment’ he said.

The cabinet members  also looked at the ‘Roadmap for the economy’ presented by the Minister of finance and coordinating minister for the economy, Wale Edun, during the inaugural meeting on Monday.

Edun  later told journalists that the council agreed that the economy ‘is not where it ought to be’.

The Minister said FEC examined eight priority areas and identified targets to deliver within the next three years while adding that President Tinubu also urged the ministers to come up with policies and programmes to turn around the nation’s economy -Team@orientactualmags.com
