Restating and showing his avowed commitment to achieving the lofty objectives of the  Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the minister in charge of the new ministry, Honourable, Adegboyega Oyetola , on Thursday discussed harvesting  ideas and exploring  innovative strategies capable of turning around the fortunes of the sector during a meeting with officials of  KPMG and Nigeria’s leading private sector think-tank, the Nigeria Economic Summit Group.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that Oyetola ,who received in audience, the private sector key-players in his office, said the initiative was aimed at properly harnessing the immense potential of Nigeria’s marine resources, and promoting economic diversification.

Recall that Oyetola, had  on assumption of office as  pioneer Minister of Marine and Blue Economy , begun to engage with  ‘who-is-who’ ,  agencies, departments and parastatals under the new ministry to advance the cause of the ministry, and  ensure an effective and efficient service delivery.

Oyetola, who was inaugurated as minister last  week Monday, had begun to receive briefings from the heads of agencies and departments under his ministry almost immediately.

Oyetola had earlier interacted and received briefings from all the departmental heads including the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA); Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA); National Inland WaterWays Authority (NIWA) and Nigeria Shippers’ Council respectively and he has promised to look into some of the issues impeding their smooth operations with relevant government agencies .

The Minister, who rounded off the briefings on Wednesday with the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron and the Council for Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), had  used the occasion of the visit of the key players in the private sector on Thursday, to build and strengthen the socioeconomic ties for the growth and development of his ministry.

“I’m convinced that productive engagements like this will assist the Ministry in fulfilling the purpose for which it was created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’  Oyetola submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com
