Mangosuthi Buthelezi, Prominent Zulu Chief, Dies At 95
Mangosuthu Buthelezi, a prominent politician and a popular high chief in South Africa, is dead.
He has died at the ripe old age of 95.
Mangosuthi Buthelezi had served as Zulu royal family’s traditional prime minister since 1954. He was the traditional prime minister of the Zulu nation until his death on Saturday.
Zulu is the largest ethnic group and nation in South Africa, and the Zulu people would always be remembered for defeating the British at the Battle of Isandlwana in 1879.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that President Cyril Ramaphosa on Saturday issued a statement to announce the passing of Mangosuthu Buthelezi , who was a Zulu nationalist and leader of Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) , which was founded in 1975.
Buthelezi was one of the most prominent black politicians of the apartheid era and his role as leader of a political party during the period in question was ‘controversial’ while he later served as Minister of Home Affairs from 1994 to 2004 after apartheid had ended.
‘I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation, and the Founder and President Emeritus of the Inkatha Freedom Party.
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has been an outstanding leader in the political and cultural life of our nation, including the ebbs and flows of our liberation struggle, the transition which secured our freedom in 1994 and our democratic dispensation’ Ramaphosa said.
The Buthelezi family has also disclosed that the Zulu prime minister, who was discharged from the hospital last week, died in the early hours of Saturday.
