Ahead of the 2023 General Election, former PDP National Vice Chairman, South West, Chief Olabode George, has said there was a need for the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to resign from his position before the campaign begins.
According to the timetable released by the nation’s electoral umpire; the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , campaign will commence on September 28, 2022.
George has said it would be unfair to have the National Chairman, Presidential candidate and Chairman BoT of the PDP from the same region.
He said Ayu should do the right thing by resigning from his position before the campaign begins as it will not be wise to go into electioneering with a divided house.
George , who said this in Port Harcourt on Thursday, added that what Governor Nyesom Wike had demanded for was the right thing to be done in the interest of justice, peace and party unity.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Governor Wike in his speech during the inauguration of a road project in Omerelu , Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers state, has also called Ayu an ingrate.
Governor Nyesom Wike described Iyorchia Ayu as an ingrate and ‘a greedy man, who was only after his own interest’.
This was in response to the verbal onslaught earlier launched against him by the PDP National Chairman.
Ayu had during an interview with the BBC Hausa service described those calling for his resignation as National Chairman as children who didn’t know when the party was formed.
‘I have not violated any rules; in fact, I am working to bring reforms to the party. I am truly not bothered by the unnecessary controversy being generated. When we started PDP, these children were not around. They are children who do not know why we formed the party. We will not allow any individual to destabilize our party’ Ayu had said.
‘You can imagine what power can do. You can imagine the ingratitude; how people can be ingrates in their lives. I thought as a chairman of a party who wants to win elections, your business is to bring peace to your party; your business is not to divide your party. Your business is not to show arrogance to your party members.
Yes, the children brought you to be chairman of the party. The children brought you from the gutter to make you chairman.
Ayu, you were impeached as Senate President. Ayu, you were sacked by Obasanjo during his administration. Arrogance cannot take you anywhere. Now, we have seen that you don’t want the party to win the elections. We will help you’ Wike submitted on Thursday- Team@orientactualmags.com
