Plateau Court Acquits Ex-Gov David Jang Of Corruption Charges
Supporters of former Governor of Plateau state, Chief Jonah Jang were all smiles as the Plateau state High Court, Jos discharged and acquitted him of corruption charges on Friday.
Jang and a former Cashier at the Office of Secretary to Plateau state Government, Yusuf Pam had faced corruption charges and they were alleged to have misappropriated N6.3 billion. They were taken to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) .
Among the charges were the alleged diversion of N2 billion provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for empowerment programmes for young people and women, who are owners of small and medium scale enterprises, and the misappropriation/diversion of funds meant for the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB).
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Justice Christy Dabup ruled on Friday that the EFCC could not prove the alleged misappropriation and diversion of public funds by the former Governor. The court had since thrown out all the charges against the former governor .
