PDP Condemns Kwara Assembly For Passing Bill To Amend LG Electoral Law

The leading opposition party in Kwara state, the PDP, on Thursday condemned the state House of Assembly for passing the bill to amend the local government electoral law.

The state PDP in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Olusola Adewara called this disappointing news while alleging that it will make those in charge to hold the conduct of LG elections in abeyance until 2025.

‘Once again, we are disappointed  in the Yakubu Danladi- led Kwara state house of assembly, this move again has simply defined the House of Assembly in Kwara as a conquered branch of government which has been relegated under the authority of Governor Abdulrahman- led executive arm. 

That the house will have an audacity to pass a bill that was unanimously rejected by Kwarans during a Public Hearing organized by the same house is the most irresponsible action by the House . Their action will make Governor Abdulrahman  an emperor and enslave Kwara people by creating a society where the governor’s personal whims and caprices shall be law and where his powers are unchecked.

Our party, the PDP condemns the decision by the APC-led Kwara state House of Assembly to destroy local government system by championing the cause that will extend  notification period of LG elections to 1 year which technically extended conduct of LG elections in the state to year 2025. 

We are however consoled that we made our position known to the public that PDP in Kwara will not be part of bad influence on democracy of our  dear state . Posterity will judge everyone’ the statement submitted-. Team@orientactualmags.com
