Ex-VP Atiku Abubakar Hints At Running For President In 2027
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is the Waziri Adamawa, has dropped what can be considered as a strong hint that he would be joining the 2027 presidential race.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Atiku, in a veiled hint about his political plans, submitted during an interview with the Voice of America , Hausa Service, in Abuja that he will continue to run for president once he is alive and healthy.
‘Of course, I will keep contesting again and again as long as I am alive and healthy.
Even the former US President Abraham Lincoln contested seven times before finally winning.
However, given the current state of the PDP, it is clear that a single-handed effort will not suffice to win the election. Strong support and collaboration with other parties are required’ the former Vice President submitted when asked if he will still run for president.
Alhaji Abubakar , who had become one of the most influential politicians in the country since his PDM days, also talked about the intraparty conflict in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and emphasized the need for the party to be united and forge alliances with other political groups to win the 2027 presidential election , noted that former President Abraham Lincoln of the United States of America did not win the presidential election when he launched his first presidential bid.
Recall that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar launched his first presidential bid in 1993 when he sought for the SDP presidential nomination, but late Chief MKO Abiola eventually got nominated by the party.
He also stood as Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate in the 2007 presidential election and later sought for the PDP presidential nomination in 2011.
The former Vice President also sought for the APC presidential nomination in 2015 and later stood as PDP candidate in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections respectively.
