Gov Nasir Idris Appoints Outgoing Head Of Service, Sufyanu Bena, As Special Adviser
Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, on Thursday announced the appointment of the outgoing Head of Service of the state, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena, as his Special Adviser on Civil Service Matters.
The governor’ s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com that this announcement was made during the valedictory session held in honour of Bena as he retires from the civil service.
The governor, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Umar Abubakar Tafida, noted that Bena’s appointment was in recognition of his service to the state and his outstanding and unblemished records.
Dr. Idris praised Bena’s significant contribution to the rejuvenation and transformation of the state’s civil service, saying ‘Today is a historic day as we bid farewell to an exceptional leader, a visionary, and a champion of civil service reforms’.
‘He has left an indelible legacy in the state’s civil service’ the governor added.
Reflecting on Bena’s tenure, Dr. Idris remarked that ‘his journey has been transformative, marked by innovation, dedication, and selflessness. His reforms have modernized the civil service, fostering a culture of efficiency, honesty, and accountability’.
The governor also noted that these reforms have improved service delivery, enhanced capacity building, and empowered civil servants to perform more effectively.
He further highlighted that Bena’s impact extended beyond policies, as he had equipped a new generation of public servants with values of integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
In his address, an elated Bena described Thursday’s event as important in his life, noting that ‘To every beginning, there is an end. There is a time to go to bed, and there is a time to wake up. There is a time to be born, and there is a time to die’.
Bena emphasized that the civil service is the engine room of any government, where policies and programmes are implemented to improve the lives of citizens.
He expressed deep fulfillment in his service to the state and commended Governor Idris for his unwavering support, which had allowed him to carry out his duties effectively and efficiently.
The former HOS described Dr. Idris as the most worker-friendly governor the state has ever had, applauding him for settling gratuities of retired workers and ensuring prompt salary payments, making Kebbi State one of the few that do not owe gratuities.
