House Of Reps Holding Moment Of Silence For Late Oba Gabriel Aromolaran Excites Rep Sanya Omirin

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas on Thursday led the House of Representatives in a moment of silence to honour late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.
This was sequel to the motion moved by Rep Sanya Omirin, who represents Ijesha South federal constituency.
Oba Adekunle Aromolaran was until his passing on September 12, 2024, the Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland.
The federal lawmaker has not only submitted that he was excited to witness this but also thanked the Speaker and his colleagues for the honour done to the people of his constituency.
‘Iam delighted that my colleagues celebrated Baba Owa in an unprecedented manner. Indeed, Iam a proud Ijeshaman and Baba Owa remains great even in death’ Rep Sanya Omirin submitted.

Moving his motion, Rep Sanya Omirin had noted that Oba Gabriel Aromolaran’s 42-year glorious reign brought unprecedented growth to Ijeshaland and its people while expressing delight that some among the reps members, who took economics as a subject in high schools, talked about how they found the books authored by the late monarch useful.

Recall that Speaker Tajudeen Abbas had earlier sent a letter of condolence to the Aromolaran family.
Highly intelligent and educated monarch, Oba Gabriel Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland , joined his ancestors last month.
Ilesha is the traditional headquarters of the Ijesha people and there are over 100 Beaded Crown Traditional Rulers in Ijesaland who are under the Owa Obokun Adimula.
Following the passing of Oba Peter Adeniran Olatunji Agunlejika II on September 26,1981. Oba Adekunle Gabriel Aromolaran II emerged as his successor and got announced as the 40th Owa-Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland on February 20, 1982, while the then governor of old Oyo State, Late Chief Bola Ige presented Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to him on Saturday, May 15, 1982.
Oba Aromolaran was the first PhD holder to become a monarch in the country.
